    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: tuedderbueddel Surnames: Rohwer Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.ceeurope.germany.schleswig.general/6076.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, my name is Jens Rohwer from Germany. I have Thies Rohwer from Schewenbrügge, born Sep. 15, 1789, and his wife Wiebke Sievers, daughter of Timm Sievers and Margaretha Sievers, nee Rohwer, from Nienkattbek. The family is still running the farm estate in Schewenbrügge, today part of the village of Jevenstedt. Thies' parents were Claus Rohwer and Catharina Dorothea Rohwer, nee Rohwer. Here parents were Hinrich Rohwer and Trina Rohwer, nee Köster. Thies's son son, born January 5, 1829, emigrated to the US. I'm interested about his story. 3. Jens I don't have any direct information for your search, but I did find a John Rohwer in the 1870, 1880 US census, and 1895 and 1905 Wisconsin state census. Both were born in 1829. John lived in Sheboygan, Wisconsin all those years. The census will also give all members of the household and you can go up to the 1930 census. Note that many Germans changed their name to English versions, In my family Hans became Henry, and Juergen became John, and also the census taker might have not spelled the last name correctly. Now I wonder if you can provide me with information. One great grandfather was Marx Roeschmann. He lived in or near Jevenstedt On left for the US in 1883.. His father, Hans Jochim Roeschmann (1795 - 1858) married Anna Rohwer Sievers (1801 - 1845). Two generations back, a g-g-g-g-grandfather Joachim Roeschmann (1718 - 1793) married Engel Rohwer. I also see many entries of Rohwer and Sievers on birth records as witnesses. I have no other information on these two families and wonder if you have some.
