I am doing research on the Butenschon family from the Brokstedt area north of Hamburg.  My great great grandmother, Anna Christena Kaack was born in Altona in 1867 and migrated to the US settling in Missouri in 1884.  She left behind her mother Anna Christina Kaack nee Butenschon and possibly a sibling (Arthur Kaack) in Germany.  Her mother, Anna Christina Butenschon was born to Hinrich and Margarethe (Fock) Butenschon in Brokstedt in 1839.  She lived in Brokstedt and Bad Bramstedt before moving to Altona where she eventually married a man with the last name Kaack.  I am still searching for more information on him, he supposedly left on a ship for the US sometime between 1868 and 1874 and was never heard from again.  In 1875, Anna Christina Butenschon remarried Nicholaus Hansen and moved to Bad Bramstedt until his death in 1902 when I suspect that she moved back to Hamburg to stay with sisters. I was in Germany in May 2008 and researched in Bad Bramstedt and will return to Hamburg for more research in February 2009.  If anyone has any leads or information on the Butenschon or Kaack families, please let me know.  I am happy to share what I have, pictures and German documents.
