I found Hans spelled both ways on census records and I've found several Lantan families that fit your names in Davenport, Scott Co. There's a Hans who is married to an Ida Sorrensen. It appears that they came from Kiel, Germany. Their daughter was born there. In 1910, he and Ida are living in Davenport. Also living with them is a Carolina Freddersdorf. She is an aunt, aged 77, and immigrated in 1892. Hans and Ida are both still living in 1920, he is 76, she is 75 and they have a granddaughter, Irene Engelhardt (?) She is 17 and b. in Iowa. If you check familysearch.org, there are some Lantans that fit your family description. There is a Frederick Lantan who was b. on 3 April 1848 in Germany and died on 9 Jul 1913 at Blue Grass, Iowa. His father's name was Christian Lantan and his mother's name was Magdalena Delfs. There is a Chris Lantan who was b. in 1846 in Germany. He died 7 Jan 1911 in West Side, Crawford, Iowa. ! His father is listed as Christ Lantan and mother as Margy Dalfs. There's also a Fred Lantan who married a Rosa Bluedorn in Davenport on 11 Dec 1890. His parents were Christian Lantan and Margaretha. These names were transcribed by volunteers so they might have read them wrong. But, it might be a starting place. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
