Author: josephfed Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.ceeurope.germany.schleswig.general/6413.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: On the few records that 've been able to find, Joseph De Temple and his wife Mary immigrated from Germany. A wile back, I googled the name "Temple" (My Grandfather was Charles Temple)and I found a page that listed numerous "Temple" families. It that document I was able to find my Great (X2) grandfather, Joseph De Temple and it stated that he immigrated from Augsburg, Germany. I later discovered that he was born in NY in 1840 and it was his father Joseph, and mother Mary De Temple that immigrated from either Augsburg, or Auschburg, Germany. This is where I'm stuck in my research. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My great grandmother was Anna Kotlewski she came to the U.S. 12 April 1889. She came over with her husband Jacob Lademan and her sister Pauline and her husband August Lademan, her sister Augusta and her husband Jakob Demps. They were from the Danzig or Gdansk. They lived within blocks of each other on Wesson st in Detroit, Michigan. Because I only knew females with the Kotlewski name and didn't know thier mother and father's names, I didn't know of any siblings they might have had. Augusta was born 1856, Pauline 1860 and Anna 15 May 1867. If anyone can pint me in the right direction to learn more about these Kotlewski sisters, please write back or write to hvnsennt@yahoo.com. Author: GailDZahn Surnames: Zahn Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.ceeurope.germany.schleswig.general/6418.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Uwe, thank you so much. I'm hoping you can answer another question for me as well. Although my Grandfather passed in the 30's my Aunts, his daughters, say that this is our ancestral home. They said he took his Mothers name, Zahn, when he moved to the states. We have no other information on his life in Germany except for some very old pictures with few if any captions. It seems any information is now lost as there is only one Aunt left and she was 3 when Grandpa passed. So, my question is, do you know what the family name is of the Estate, or have any idea of where I can find more information on the estate and the family. In any case, thank you so much for the information already provided. Gail Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Search here -- put Peters for name and choose Holsten for Holstein: http://www.ddd.dda.dk/dddform2_uk.asp There are results for Peters. [2] Then, you might check the exceptional website listing people who emigrated from Schlewswig-Holstein -- called RootDigger: http://rootdigger.de/Emi.htm Click on the letter P, then wait a bit and up will come all the people with surnames starting with P. I looked and there are more than 10 pages with folks named Peters. Best wishes in your family searching. Barbara Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
