    3. Dear Mrs. Wilson, go into the database "rootsdigger" of emigrants to America http://www.rootdigger.de/index.htm . In this lists are named Amanda Mathilda, Elna and Ferdinand Svensdotter. Perhaps the author can help to find the residence of the Svensdotter in Schleswig-Holstein. Regards K. It is said that the father of Nanny Maria was German and Nanny Maria later got the surname Carlsson/Karlsson. Christina never got married and she died at the poor house in Aringses 28 Aug 1906. In the Aringses husfvrhvrsldngd(Census)1871-1875 it says that the mother, Brita Stina Jacobsdotter, gave a paper to the pastor stating that she agreed to let her daughter Ingrid Maria get married in "Holstein" That's the last thing I have about Ingrid Maria. Their sister Augusta b.1853 went to Germany in 1879: Post 268994 Ldnk, Augusta Maid (unmarried woman) b. 29 Jan 1853 in Aringses, Kronobergs ldn (Smeland) Emigrated 17 Oct 1879 from Vstrebo, Vdxjv landsfvrs, Kronobergs ldn (Smeland) to Germany Source: Husfvrhvrsldngd(Census), page 490 Emibas emigrationsakt: Vdxjv landsfvrs G 1879 004 Attention! Emibas has listed her birthplace incorrectly as "Alingses, Dlvsborgs ldn (Vdstergvtland)" but I have checked the church books and this Augusta is proven to be "my" Augusta. I have nothing more about Augusta after the emigration. I am hoping that someone knows something about Ingrid Maria and Augusta since I don't even know where in "Germany" they lived. 3. G'day Doreen and Irene, I too have a Greve on the main trunk of my family tree: She is Catharina Elisabetha GREVE, b abt 1743 in Groden, near Cuxhaven. I was very lucky and found several families of GREVES in Groden and nearby towns in FHL films; if you are interested, I can send you details.   Catharina married Johann MOELLER, a ships captain of Altona, in about 1771, but I have not been able to find exactly when and where They had a daughter, Anna Magdalena, b abt 1773, but again I have not been able to find exactly when or where (Anna gave her birthplace as Hamburg in the 1835 and 1845 censuses, in Wesselburen, S-H ).   So far, I have not been able to find anything about Johann MOELLER; I searched the FHL films for areas near Cuxhaven, but without success (although there are many MOELLERs ).   Most of the info above came from the marriage registration of Anna Magdalena MOELLER and Johann David DIEBEL on 27 Oct 1800 in Windbergen, S-H, and registered at Meldorf. It also stated that at the time, both of Anna's parents had died .(Found for me by Klaus STRUVE ).   I would appreciate any suggestions you might have for finding further info about (i) the marriage of Johann MOELLER and Catharina Elisabeth GREVE, about 1771, possibly in or near Altona (ii) where and when Anna Magadalena MOELLERN was born (about 1773 )  and (iii) any info about Johann MOELLER. 2. Doreen,    I have someone similar in my tree.  Christina Grewe, born 24 Sept 1763 in Alt Bennebek, Schleswig-Holstein , the daughter of Claus Grewe and Wiebke Kocken, who  married Hencke (Henning) Jöns in Alt Bennebek 29 Oct 1779.  Among 7 children was a daughter Christina Jöns, christened 5 Oct 1788.   This was from a microfilm of the Parish Record that I ordered from Salt Lake City.  When I was reading this film I remember that there were LOTS of Bocks's on that film. 3. Hi Irene, Thank you for your reply. How exciting that you think there may be a connection between our families. According to the Marriage cert. Christina C. was from Behrensbrock and her father Johan Heinrich Greve was a labourer in Neudorf. I wrote to Remtamt im Kirchenkreis, Eckernforde in 1996 for a copy of the marriage cert., and that is the sum total of my research in Germany. I will try some Google searches and see if I can find an Archive or some such thing for Neudorf. Perhaps I will have some luck, or it may be a good idea to return to my original source. Thank you for your reply. I would appreciate any help you can give me, and I will certainly follow your leads. 3. Hi Doreen We found it very interesting to see your request, since we are doing research in Gettorf area through the last few years for the Boock family. To be honest, most of the work is done by my wife. My family originates from the village of Neudorf, now we are living just 50 km from this place and so it is not very difficult for us to look up for details in the church records which are now stored in the church archive in Rendsburg. The spelling of my family name Boock changed in the records from case to case between Boock and Book, but also Bok appeared in early records. So there might be also a connection to later Bock families from this area but we did not spent time yet to investigate that case. And so we added some Bock family members to our data file when coming across, but we have not yet information about your ancestors as mentioned in your request. Most of my ancestors lived in this area and worked in villages or estates near Gettorf, like Behrensbrook, Borghorst, Wulfshagen etc. through three centuries, also the name Greve (Grewe) appears in our family tree, first time in 1729. For short information regarding our research you may visit our website. I am afraid this site is not up to date but it might give you some further information: www.boock-family.de For further communication feel free to send direct e-mail Wolfgang -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: schleswig-holstein-roots-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:schleswig-holstein-roots-bounces@rootsweb.com] Im Auftrag von Doreen Powell Gesendet: Montag, 2. After the birth of a son in late 1861 or early 1862 they migrated to Queensland, Australia, arriving at Moreton Bay aboard the La Rochelle in 30 July 1862. Their son died on the voyage. They had ten known children, who were born in the two Australian States of Queensland and South Australia. Johan, or John as he was known, & Christina, moved a final time to the State of New South Wales, where they remained until their deaths. I have not been able to link them with any of the other Bock families who came to Australia, and their marriage certificate lists both Johan's (Marcus Heinrich Bock and Dorothea Voss) and Christina's (Johann Heinrich Greve and Catharina Elsabe Strey) parents were deceased at the time of their marriage. 3. Hi Doreen, I am doing research on the Greve/Grave/Graf/Grafe/Graaf family in Schleswig-Holstein. The name has changed over time and according to who was doing the writing/spelling on documents. My sister and I (who are living in USA) , along with a cousin who is living in Germany have traced our direct lines to very far back. This was done by writing to Church archives and by way of a private researcher. I am sure there is a cousin connection between our family and your Christina Catherine and Johann Heinrich Greve but at this time I cannot put it together. I will keep your email and let you know if I come across them at some time in the future. You should check on Ancestry and Family Search for family trees if you have not yet done that. If the marriage license you have gives the town of birth for Christina you could find the church archive online and write to them. I could help you find the archive if needed. They can research the birth register and that would probably give you the town the parents are from. Or you could ask for a marriage document of the parents which would probably have that info on it and their parents names. So you can keep going back doing that. You do need to write your email in both English and German but you can Google a translation and most archives will charge for their time and copies. It is all well worth it to get the information.
