    1. [S-H-RTS] Look-up Needed, GERMANS TO AMERICA
    2. Hi Listers, Is there SKS out there with access to the GERMANS TO AMERICA volumes who could do a lookup for me on Frederick PETERS, probably born in 1855, Germany? He arrived in USA sometime between 1865 and 1871, traveling with at least one of his parents (if not both), and probably with some siblings as well. Parents names are Alfred and Lillian PETERS. They would have come into the Port of New York. Any and all information would be helpful regarding the ship, date of arrival, family members, etc. Frederick Peters is a Great Grandfather to me, and I've been unable to find information about his immigration, as well as about his extended family. Any kindness will be most appreciated. Jeanne

    1. [S-H-RTS] Hilfe zu einem Nachnamen?/ Help with surname?
    2. ivan nichols
Herzlichen Dank! Ivan Nichols ====================== Hello group, I have recently began to study my Herzlieb/Hertzlieb ancestors. The Brüggemann-Kartei (owned by the Ratzeburg archive) gives a list of the children of Caspar Christian Hertzlieb, a Müller of Kirchspiel Krummesse, Herzogtum Lauenberg and later of Kirchspiel Klütz, Mecklenburg-Schwerin. One of these children bears the surname Herzwig. A researcher who has a special interest in Krummesse sent me this information: "In the Baptism register of Krummesse the following children are found: a: 1729 Sopia Magdalena Dorothea Herzlieb (V: Caspar, Müller in Krummesse) b: 1731 Maria Magdalena Elsabe Herzwig (V: Caspar, Müller in Krummesse)" He told me that he speculates that the name Herzlieb/Hertzlieb may not have existed before 1726.....and that it was a variant of the names HERZWEGEN, HERTZWIG, HERZWIG, HERZIG and HERTZWEG. I am very confused by this! Could someone please offer any comments or knowledge about how Herzlieb could be a variant of these other surnames? Is this a common occurrence among German surnames? Thanks very much! Ivan Nichols

She had a brother, Otto, who may have emigrated with her. I know nothing about their lives in S-H. Is anyone researching either of these family names? I'd be glad to share what I do have here. Kind regards Wayne Hi, I have 2 possible ideas: 1. if you take Getrau it is almost the german word for married = getraued 2. if it is taken from a handwritten list, there are many possibilities for wrongspellings - But the last bit of Sorgenfrei = genfrei, could have been transformed into either of your own first assumed names. I am not saying this IS so; but there is a chance it could be one of those possibilities. Hope you find the right connection - with more info about her (place, dates and family) you will be able to find her in churchrecords, maybe even familysearch.com - regards from Bodil. ----- Original Message ----- From: <waynebunning@austarnet.com.au> To: <SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 12, 2003 1:32 PM Subject: [S-H-RTS] Sorgenfrei? Is this saying that an entry for this particular family name can be found on pg. 90 & 92 of volume E? The volumes are not lettered however,... they are numbered 2-6 for this particular register. Does the E correspond with vol. 5 (2=B, 3=C, 4=D, 5=E, 6=F)? Thank you in advance for your help! Julie Ploehn-Vigna

This interactive data bank allows you to ENTER your known details of ancestors and relatives who emigrated. Quoting your e-mail address will allow easy contact with you in case of an ENQUIRY concerning these data, giving you the potential to find your relatives. You will find this databank under OUR PROJECTS at: http://www.aggsh.de/engl/index.html === A special THANK YOU to Mr. Juergen P.
