    3. Tony, I think what you have is a copy of the Christening not the birth cert. Geoattern should be Gevattern = Godparents, sponsors or witnesses. I have several (about 30) from my Passick line in Germany. Enjoy!! 3. I am searching for a Friedrich Adler b. 1803 Mecklenburg-Strelitz Germany d. 28 June 1893 Pine Island, Minnesota USA He was married to a Johanna D. M. ?______(last name). b. 22 July 1806 in Pommern, Germany. d.2 Feb. 1869 in Pine Island, Minnesota. I have been unsuccessful in searching for the ship they sailed on to USA, and any information on them, before they emigrated. It has been rumored that they entered the USA by way of Texas in 1852. I have found nothing to support this rumor. They were Farmers by trade. I have no other information on this couple. Thank you for any help or suggestions you can give me in finding this couple! I still have not made any connection from any of the sponsors to any of my relatives. I do believe, however, that I have identified a small number of the Baptism Sponsors. Note that Reimer Nicolas Mohr, of Wall, was the Baptism Sponsor of Reimer Jakob Nikolaus Haack. The only other HAACK Baptism Sponsor I can find for someone named MOHR, who is from Wall, is Wiebke Mohr, who sponsored the Baptism of Wilhelm "Bill" Haack. I believe this pair of MOHRs from Wall is a married couple. I believe that they are Reimer Nicolaus Mohr and Wiebke Justine Dorothea (Hansen) Mohr, who the IGI records show marrying "07 AUG 1856 Walle, Wohrden, Schleswig-Holstein, Preussen". Notice that Wiebke is a HANSEN, and that there are other HANSENs as HAACK Baptism Sponsors. Johann Jacob Hanssen, of Wall, was another of the Baptism sponsors of Reimer Jakob Nikolaus Haack, and Margaretha Hanssen, of Wall, was the Baptism sponsor of Heinrich "Henry" Haack. I believe this is also a married couple. The IGI records show a marriage between Johann Jacob Andreas Hansen and Margaretha Gravert "About 1832 Of Woehrdener Hafen, Meldorf, Schleswig-Holstein, Preussen". This is most likely the same persons referred to in the following (IGI) marriage record, "Margaretha Grawert married 03 APR 1829 Woehrden, Pinneberg, Schleswig-Holstein, Preussen, Johann Jacob Andreas Hansen". While I take the record at face value, "Pinneberg" must be in error. It was their daughter Wiebke Justine Dorothea Hansen who married Reimer Nicolaus Mohr, and sponsored the Baptism of Wilhelm "Bill" Haack as "Wibke Mohr, of Wall". This would tend to make one think that the familial connection is through the HANSENs, and not the MOHRs. It would appear that the only Mohr sponsors were those related to HANSENs by marriage, or who were born HANSEN. So it is logical to conclude that the relationship of George Jacob Haack, or his wife, to Johan Jacob Andreas Hansen, or his wife, is siblings. Of these possibilities, most can be excluded. The family of Wiebke Dorothea Harder does not fit, because one line will be HARDER and the other HARTWIG. This leaves the family of George Jacob Haack himself. His paternal line will clearly be HAACK, leaving only his mother's line. Thus it is simplest to explain the Baptism sponsorships on the whole as the product of a close relationship between John Jacob Andreas Hansen (or his wife) and the mother of George Jacob Haack. This would result in the Baptism sponsors being either an aunt or an uncle, or else a grand-aunt or a grand-uncle, of the child to be Baptized. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gbonner/haack.html Cheers, Gregg

    1. [S-H-RTS] Reimers / Tiedge from Dithmarschen
    2. Selken
    3. Hi to you all. I got this e-mail from Lillian. Is anybody able to give her or me any information about this names? Best greetings from Schleswig-Holstein, Hans (Hans W. Selken) ---Ursprüngliche Nachricht--- From: "lillian broske" <farmerr@rconnect.com> To: <320078883254-0001@T-Online.de> Subject: Re: Lillian Margaretha Kamp Hi Hans. No hurry on getting that information. Just whenever it is convenient for you. Claus Jacob Reimers was born April l6, l832, in Landsteige-Marne, S. Dithmarschen, Holstein, Germany and died April l7, l9l9, in Davenport, Scott County, Iowa, USA. His wife was Rebecka Margaretha (Titje/Tidge) Tiedje (We have lots of different spellings for that last name!) . She was born September l3, l830, in Trennewurth, S. Dithmarschen, Holstein, Germany, and died March l, l9l3, in Davenport, Scott County, Iowa. They had six children: John (Johann Nikolaus) Reimers who married an Emma Magdalena Margaretha Uck; A.H. (Arandt Hermann) Reimers (my great-grandfather) who married Emma Schneekloth; Lena Catharina Magdalena Reimers, who married Hans Petersen; Henry (Hinrich) Reimers, who married Carrie Lehmann; Lizzie Louise Reimers, who married John W. Kamp, and Anna Reimers, who married John Rohwer. We have information on all six of the children and their families. Would any of this information, particularly what we have on Lizzie Reimers Kamp, be something that you would like me to send you a copy of? We have been trying to find out how we can possibly find out who the siblings of Claus Jacob Reimers and Rebecka Margaretha Tiedje are. Do you have any suggestions of who or how we can contact someone or someplace in Germany to obtain that information? We know that Claus' parents were Johann Reimers and Margarethe Catharina (or Catharina Margaretha ---we've seen it both ways) Holst. They were married on November l, l829, in we believe Landsteige, Marne, Holstein, Germany. Catharina was born March 3, l804, and baptized March 7, l804 at the Evangelical Lurtheran Church, Marne, Holstein, Germany. She is the daughter of Claus Holst, born in l763 or l764, in Huselau Germany, and Margretha Catrina Holsten of Neuenkoogesdeich. Johann Reimers parents are Jacob Reimers born in l777 in Westerhusen, Germany and married to Malen Schulten. We have that information, but unfortunately, not the names of any of the siblings, other than one of Rebecka's brothers, is named Hinrich Tiedje and he came to America and lived in Davenport, Iowa, and two sisters, Johanna (married to a Paul Stubbe) and Louisa (married to a Miller) were both living in Davenport, Iowa. We are unsure if that is all her siblings or not. The only siblings found for Claus Reimers are Henry Reimers, a brother, and a Jacob Boethier, whom we are unsure of as being a brother-in-law to one or the other of them. Also, we are curious as to what prompted Claus and Rebecka Reimers to leave their ancestral home in Germany and travel so far to an unknown land with four very small children. They came to America in l864, making the voyage from Hamburg, Germany, on the ship the Saxonia which docked in New York City on June l4, l864. From there they went directly to Scott County, Iowa. This is probably more information than you were looking for concerning where our relatives came from. Hope I didn't bore you with it. If you do, however, have any suggestions as to where we could search for siblings for Claus and Rebecka, please let me know. Also, if you want me to send you any of that information on any of our relatives, please give me a mailing address and I will send it. I do not have it on the computer but I can make photocopies of it for you and will gladly mail it to you. Thank you for taking your time to help us in our search. Lillian ------

    3. Our Ficks were in Chicago. Might be more other places but so far, I have only found my husband's gr gr grandparents arriving in Chicago in 1872 with no children. Don't know where Muscatine is but we have some Dubuque relatives. So who knows, might find a connection one of these days. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/kVC.2ACE/2756.3.1.1.1 Message Board Post: I have this taken from a local paper to whom it may concern. BELOVED MOTHER CALLED HOME Passing of Mrs. Rathje Casts Gloom Over Neighborhood REMAINS TAKEN TO WYOMING, IA. FOR INTERMENT The community has been called upon to part with another of its most highly esteemed citizens last week when the death summons called Mrs. Jerry Rathje from the scenes of her labors to the land beyond life's toil and care. Her sickness while of brief duration was accompanied by intense suffering and the heart broken husband and children are postrated with grief in their great loss. Mrs. Rathje had surrounded herself with a large circle of friends, her home was her kingdom and the atmosphere of hospitality and true friendliness was always apparent, winning for her and her loved ones a host of kind neighbors. Henrietta Martensen was born in Germany, September 30, 1874 and came to this country with her parents in 1889. She was united in maarriage to Jerry Rathje June 12, 1895 and in 1910 they became residents of this community locating on a farm in Floyd county, about 4 miles west of Nashua. Four children two sons and two daughters came to bless this union, who with the bereaved husband are heart broken in their burden of sorrow. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon from the late home and was attended by a large concourse of sympathetic friends. Many floral offerings found their way to the side of the casket, the graduationg class of which Miss Anna is a member attending in a body with several of the teachers and presenting beautiful floral tributes. Besides the immediate family ther remain four brothers and two sisters. Rev. Pease officiated at the funeral and the remains were brought to the undertaking room where they rested until the following morning when the funeral party left for Wyoming, Ia., for the interment a German Lutheran burial service being held at that place. The family was accompanied by Cornelius and Thomas Martensen, brothers of the deceased and Miss Mae Geishert went with the party as far as Waterloo. The hearfelt sympathy of the entire community goes out to the sorrowing family in their hour of bereavement.

    3. I may not be aware of it, but it appears that question 1. remained unanswered so far: Sipsdorf is in the parish Oldenburg in Holstein. Census probably 1803 and 1835, from then on in intervals of five years. From 1845 onward, census records are supposed to state place of birth (parish, at least) of a person that is listed.
