    1. [S-H-RTS] Roll Call - Dettleff from Hamburg to the Falklands and beyond.
    2. Greetings, List Members! I have several brick walls but this one is the most interesting and perplexing. Jürgen Christian DETTLEFF born ~1821 maybe in Hamburg, Germany immigrated from Hamburg to the Falkland Islands by 1841 on board the ship "Montgomery." He stayed there and married Mary MURRAY in July 1850. Mary was born in Ireland in 1824 and there was a Christopher Murray who was a witness to their marriage. Jürgen (Jeergen) and Mary had 8 children: James Christopher b. Apr 1851 - don't know where he went. Jane b. Aug 1852 - married Richard McDonald NUGENT. John b. Mar 1854 - married Caroline Jane RUMMELL William b. Oct 1855 - d. Jul 1913 - no known marriage Thomas Marquis b. Aug 1857 - married Mary Ellen LEHEN Michael b. Jul 1859 - d. 1927 - no known marriage Mary Ann b. Mar 1861 - married George HURST Hansen b. Oct 1862 - married Francis Charlotte HOLLEN and Alice Mary HOLLAN (Van Hollen ?) Some of these people and their offspring stayed in the Falklands and others went to South America, North America, Great Britain and Australia. I am looking for any relatives of the above people and am especially interested in any connection to any Dettleff in Hamburg. The name Dettleff is rather rare and yet I cannot find a connection to this family. My Dettleff roots come from Segeberg and then Bremen to the United States. The name became Dettleff from Detleff about 1838 so I feel strongly that there has to be a connection to this Falkland Islands family. Thank you. Gloria Dettleff - Florissant, Missouri, USA

    1. [S-H-RTS] ROLL CALL: AUERBACH/LETHI
    2. Can anyone tell me how to get information from Kiel? I grandparents ( August and Ella Lethi; Max and Emma Auerbach ) who died in Kiel between the years of 1947 to 1962. All the record offices I have tried in Kiel claim they have NO records for eithjer family. This makes no sense; had these deaths occurred in WW II I could understand. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Rolf Lethi

    3. Dear Members, In the winter of 2000 I started to built a site about the history of the wars of Schleswig-Holstein. http://www.ahnenforschung-sh.de/history/e/history.htm First I wrote about the history of SH and later I wanted to write about the wars. Until today only a few of the sites about the wars are ready. I drove (sometimes with my family) to the places where the battles took place and made some photos. Please find here 24 photos about the entrenchment's near Düppel (in Denmark) where one battle of the war 1864 took place: http://www.genealogy-sh.de/cgi-bin/diashow.cgi After approx. 15 seconds the next photo is loading automatically. By deleting some files from my harddrive I found the photos and thought that maybe some one of you has ancestors in that area and is interested to see how the area looks like.
