I am looking for ancestors of Christine Schleuter and Mark Kohnke. They are my paternal greatgrandparents. Mark Kohnke born Jan 4, 1847 in Borkholt SH Came to America from Hamburg on the ship Holsatia in 1869 He was in America a few years and then went back to Germany In 1879 he came back to America again on the ship Herder with Christine Schleuter born Nov 27, 1860 in SH They were married in MN and had 9 daughters and 1 son They also lived in ND and SD where they both died. I believe that Christine Schleuter Kohnke was somehow related to a Rosa Pohlmann. Rosa Pohlmann sent letters and pictures to some of Christines daughters in 1947. Rosa Pohlmann may still be alive or perhaps her children Elke or Reimer are. I believe Rosa's address at that time was Knoll Wulfsmoon Kellinghusen Holstein Br Zone Germany. Can anyone help me with any information on any of these families. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Robbie

Hi group! I'm looking for anyone that might have ready access to the parish records for the Oldenburg parish that might be interested in helping US researchers of families that attended the Oldenburg parish. Being that LDS has not filmed any of the death records for the parish, it makes it difficult to do any research in that area without having to pay a lot of money (about $35) for one record. Many of us can't afford that and would really benefit from having those records indexed. Would anyone be willing to index those death records (and any other parish records prior to 1800 or after 1865 [marriages after 1842] that LDS hasn't filmed) and posting them to a website somewhere for easy access? I am in the process of indexing the records that LDS has already filmed but would really benefit from having indexes of the the records not filmed. I am trying to have my indexing part done in the next month. Anyone up for the challenge? Julie
I just read the message I sent. The fingers were working faster than the brain. Catharina Sophia STARKEN was from Hamburg, but I think more likely Neumunster, Born: 3 Dec. 1951 Died: 2 Mar. 1937 in Chicago, Illinois USA Obviously Catharina was not born 3 Dec 1951. It should have read 3 Dec 1851. While she was a special lady, even she couldn't have been born after she died. Lois Mack Schill her embarrassed great-granddaughter

Forwarded Message. Regards - Hans Peter Voss Betreff: {not a subscriber} Roll call : LANDAHL, METZENDORF Datum: Sun, 5 Oct 2003 10:55:20 -0600 Von: Jeff & Mary Schwartz <jlsmbs@verizon.net> An: schleswig-holstein-roots-l@rootsweb.com Hi, listers, I've been reading the list several years and have not seen anything on my LANDAHL ancestors, but it's worth trying again. My immigrant ancestor, August LANDAHL, was born in the Duchy of Lauenburg in Nov. of 1827. He married Louisa METZENDORF, perhaps before departing Hamburg, or else shortly after arriving in New York State. They settled in Erie Co., near Buffalo. I have looked at 2/3 of the parish baptism records available on microfilm via the LDS for parishes in Lauenburg, but no luck so far. I believe his wife was from Hamburg, and am assuming they departed from Hamburg. The logical timeframe works out to be early 1853; the first 6 mos. of that year are missing from the Hamburg passenger records. (Yes, I have looked at the months and years around that time anyhow.) I think another LANDAHL, William A., of Cedar Co. Iowa who was married to Anna ROSENBURG would also be a relative, but more distantly related. Any ideas or connections? Thanks for reading. I'm researching the family of Claus (Charles) SIEH, from Konegshugel, Holstein, Germany. He emigrated to USA in 1844, Port of NY, and eventually settled in the Greenpoint area of Brooklyn. Charles married Susan WAINRIGHT of Poughkeepsie, and raised five children with her. His son, Charles William SIEH, married Mary Elizabeth PELTON of Brooklyn, and then vanished to Omaha, Nebraska! I suspect he abandoned her and their one year old son, my Grandfather! I'd be interested in any information about, or relatives of, these persons! Jeanne
Any family members of Wermuth in the area of Rendsburg, Germany would be welcomed. Thanks. Bob in Florida

Ok heres my part of the Roll Call. My name is Janet and IM researching my Family on my Fathers Side. Have been doing my search for just going on 2 years, started with 100 names and now have over 3000 and thanks to the Internet. ok. I am 4th Generation American coming from Germany to Norway to here. IM still trying to get information on my 6th Great Grandparents. His name is Joachim Frederick Chrisitan Krger (Christian may not be one of his names) Born in Stendal and Died in Stavenhagen. He married Catarina Ilsabee Stuwitz Born in Minden, Germany and died in Stendal. We do not have any dates for them. we do know or should I say the story goes. He had 3 sons he sent either all three or just to north into Norway to escape the prussian war or only two. one Stayed in Bergen (MY 5th G Grandfather) the other one or two went north and started a fishery or something. One part of the Story goes that one went back to Germany. We do have one name that has one dyin in Germany. but right now hes a floating grandfather cause only one person has him as a grandfather. NOW. we do know my 5th Great Grandfather was born in 1714 so we dont know how old his father was when he was born but we are assuming 20 to 3o so that would be his father being born around 1685 give 20 years in case. We have traced one branch of the family back to the year 0214. and surprised the blank out of us on how many high ranking indviduals in the society there were. Is there anyone that can help me get farther in the Stendal area. we Have written to the churches in the Town and havent heard back from them. Thought maybe there might be something that someone else might know that will crack this wall I hit. any help will be highly appreciative. thanks in advance janet ____________________________________________________________ Get advanced SPAM filtering on Webmail or POP Mail ... Hi Christina, From the Satjendorf 1803 census there is a Detlef Christian Scheel age 33, tenant of a cottage Christina Scheelen age 44, Stelle, 2nd marriage Lucia Schroeder age 21, daughter 1st marriage Friederich Peter Scheel age 3, child 2nd marriage Anna Margaretha Scheel age 1, child 2nd marriage Hinrich Scheel age 46 Catharina Nips age 39, his wife Hans Scheel age 12, their child Friederich Scheel age 7, their child Elisabeth Scheel age 10, their child my friendly greetings Wayne I have just found out that my Scheel family is from the town of Satjendorf in Holstein. The Scheel family I am referring to settled in Plattesville, Grant County, Wisconsin in the mid to late 1860's. Specifically: Siblings Claus Heinrich SCHEEL b Nov 1843 Carl (Charles) SCHEEL, b. Feb 1845 Catherine SCHEEL, b. Abt 1849 came to the US on April 5, 1864 on the ship Teutonia out of Marseilles. (Have passenger list from NARA). The rest of the family arrived in New York later, on December 6, 1866, out of the port of Marseilles, ship unknown. Father Claus SCHEEL b. 1814 Mother Margaret (Unknown)SCHEEL, b. Abt 1816 Doris SCHEEL b. Abt 1851 Friedrich SCHEEL b. Nov 1858 Hans SCHEEL b.Nov 1848 Marie SCHEEL b. Abt 1847 . I have the info on this from "Germans to America", but NARA stated that they could not find the manifest. I am certain that Claus and Margaret are the parents of Claus, Carl, Hans, and Friedrich. I am awaiting documentation on the others mentioned above. Does anyone have any info on the Scheels from Satjendorf? Carl SCHEEL - in my direct line - married ( in Plattesville, Wisconsin) a Catherine SCHROEDER b.29 May 1847, Kiel, Holstein, d. 4 Feb, Russell Twp., Lamoure, ND. I have not been able to determine who her parents are as yet. Christina Scheel
