Hi, Yesterday at the Family History Library, I was searching the Bergenhusen Evangelical parish registers and I found this surname. In fact, our family had a researcher trace our BENSEN line in St. Annen parish. (Both of these parishes are located in Schleswig-Holstein in Germany). She discovered that the third wife of Juergen BENSEN, Sr. was the mother of Juergen BENSEN, Jr. and that her maiden name was TOEPKE/TOEPKEN or also CHRISTIANSEN, since her father's first name was probably Christian. As I researched in Bergenhusen I happened to glance at an entry for the KOEPKE/KOEPKEN family of that parish and in one of the places, where the surname appeared in the entry the first letter resembled a T instead of a K. However, the next Capital letter at the beginning of this surname was definitely a K. I think that this is where my little great-grannie several greats back was born and christened. Unfortunately, there are no marriage records on microfilm here, so I might find her mar! riage to Juergen BENSEN, Sr. or any christening records for her, since she was born about 1725. The baptisms on this record begin in 1727. Monday, I plan on going back to see, if I can find a Christian KOEPKE. There were some confirmation records among the baptisms. Maybe, hers was one of these. Besides, the Church records for the 1700's is there any other record that might be in an archive near Bergenhusen with family information. What about any city records, etc.? Thank you for any help that you can give me. Karla Nurnberg --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Shopping - with improved product search

Dear Listers, I have come to a halt in my research on this family Johann Friedrich LÖFLER, Müller, itzt Taglöhner zu Sehestedt (which I translate as miller and previously a day labourer of Sehestedt) and his wife Anna Christina Lucia Their daughter Catrina Dorothea Henrietta LÖFLER married Johan Jacob SPIEGEL in Sieseby Parish (Kreis Eckernförde) on 18 Oct 1791. The mother's name is very hard to read on her daughter's marriage document. It appears to be "HolcoopSea" or "HolcoasSea" which does not seem right. Does anyone have any idea as to what the name could be? Thank you for any help that you can give on this Eric Kopittke

Looking for information on Christian Kistenmacher b in Schinkel about 1820. Thanks, Melissa
Was wondering if anyone researching the SCHRÖDER or BRANDT names in the Oldenburg parish area of S-H might have run across the marriage of Peter Gottlieb SCHRÖDER and Anna BRANDT. The earliest legitimate child of theirs that I found was born 1801, so they were married sometime before that. I don't think the marriage occurred in the Oldenburg parish, at least I couldn't find it on the LDS film for that time period. Am thinking they got married at a neighboring parish, but child born in 1801 (and subsequent children) were baptised in Oldenburg parish. I am also looking for Anna's death. The last child born to her (found so far) was in 1815 and her oldest daughter's marriage record said she was deceased at the time of daughter's marriage in May 1826. Thank you for any help! I am researching my grand father, Christian Ludwig Nielson. He was born Aug 7, 1847 in the Schleswig-Holstein area of Germany. At the time of his birth this area belonged to Denmark. His naturalization papers list him as German, but the family always insisted he was Danish. I do not know the town or province of his birth. He immigrated to the US in 1869 coming to Stockton, California. He stayed about 8 to 9 years then returned to S-H where he met and married Frederika Ihle. They settled down and bought a small Hotel but only stayed one year and returned to the US, Oakdale, California about 100 miles east of San Francisco. They farmed and raised a family of 9 children. They are buried in Oakdale Ca. And all of the children are dead. Christians father had a small house in S-H and Christian was an only child. Frederica=s father was a wealthy horse trader. He had a family of 5 children, 4 girls and 1 boy. The boy=s name was Carl and he immigrated to America with Christian and Frederika and never married but made his home with them. There are cousins in Germany according to family stories but no one knows where. One possibly in Dusseldorf. Another a second cousin in San Francisco. Her name was Gertrude Heilfron, her married name was Mrs Roy Frances. Frederika=s mother=s madian name was Syne Hansen. Sometimes they spelled their last name with (sen). Any information would be appreciated, even places to look for information.
