Hello, listers! I'm searching for my Heidenreich ancestors. My records goes back as far as my 5th great grandfather Carl Friderich Heidenreich, born January 7, 1694, in Crempe (possibly Krempe), Holstein. He moved to Norway in 1714 and continued his military career here. If anyone has records about this family about the time C F Heidenreich was born, or earlier I would appreciate it. My records cover only the descendants of C F Heidenreich in Norway. Best Regards Max Wiggo Guldberg My Heidenreich-site: http://home.online.no/~cguldber/wiggo/heidenreichen.html
I am researching the Olk and Gnass families. Julie
My ancestors came from Schleswig/Holstien, the Pohl family. And I've always thought Pohl sounded very German, but my family also states that they are most definitely Danish! What I do know is that during the time that Hans Jacob Fredrick Pohl was a young man there was a war (and from research, it seems as though this piece of land has been in dispute for ages upon ages), and he refused to fight against his own people (he was born in 1853). So, he left Denmark at age 18 for New York. Name: Pohl, Jacob Frederik Occupation: Landmand Age: 18 Destination: New York Contract no.: 405800 Registration date: 6/6/1872 Last res. parish: ? Last res. county: - Slesvig Last residence: Slesvig Destination country: USA Destination city: New York City Destination state: New York State Name of ship: Indirekte IDcode: I7273P0505 He went to Iowa and married Johanna Hansen. He is found in Hampton, Franklin Co., Iowa. He goes back to Denmark to visit family when he is 33: Name: Pohl, Jacob Occupation: Købmand Age: 33 Destination: New York Contract no.: 99700 Registration date: 3/28/1887 Last res. parish: ? Last res. county: - Amerika Last residence: Amerika Destination country: USA Destination city: New York City Destination state: New York State Name of ship: Hekla Remarks: ANM: Hekla. IDcode: D8587P3201 And during this visit he is given a week to gather his things and visit and told he may not ever return by the government. As far as we know, he never returned home. I don't know who the parents of Johanna Hansen are, but the baptisms of their children are recorded at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Franklin Co., IA. Their oldest son is my grandmother's father, Hans Sophus Jacob Pohl. My grandmother is 93 and still living. She recently gave me pictures of her parents, and I would like to be able to have a few more things to tell her about her own family before she goes on to be with Jesus! Blessings, Jill Watters Rains

William: I'll bet this is more information than you ever expected to receive. Congratulations! And Sandy: What a great help you were to give William all this information. I see things like this happen all the time online, but this time I just had to stop what I was doing and say thank you to you and to the many others who practice random acts of kindness. Hi all, Does anyone know the site for this cenus online? I am looking for the town Woehrden! Regards, Kerry W
Dear Kathy Groll, you asked for your ancestor Joachim Rohwedder, born May 13, 1849 in Oesterwohld. Many Rohwedder families emigrated, see my list http://genealogy-sh.com/timm/index.htm Your ancestor is named in the census list of 1860. There are 2 families Rohwedder in the church parish town of Nordhastedt and 1 family in the village of Oesterwohld near Nordhastedt, Dithmarschen County, Schleswig-Holstein. The last family is yours. Here is a copy: Volkszahlregister (Census) 1860. Oesterwohld: 20. Hufengebaude: Jochim Rohweder, 44 (years), verheiratet, geboren (born) im Kirchspiel (parish) Schenefeld, (occupation) Gastwirth, Maler, Lutheran (all). Magdalena Rohweder geborene Ihde, 25 (a wrong age, she must be 35 years old!), verheiratet, geboren im Kirchspiel Meldorf, seine Ehefrau. Ihre Kinder, alle geboren in Oesterwohld, alle unverheiratet: Sophia Rohweder, 14, Hans Joch. Rohweder, 12, Jochim Rohweder, 10, Johanna Rohweder, 8, Heinrich Rohweder, 6, Wilhelm Rohweder, 4. Regards Klaus Timm

I've been following the thread about the name Rohwedder in Schleswig-Holstein. My Joachim Rohwedder was born May 13, 1849 at Oesterwahld, Suderdithmarshen . He immigrated to the US on the Silesia on April 6, 1870. He married Auguste Marx in Blue Island, IL and lived there until 1880 when he moved to Joliet, IL. In the mid 1800's, there was a Claus Rohwedder living in Blue Island who later moved to Iowa. I have not been able to find any relationship between Claus and my Joachim, but what is the liklihood of two unrelated people named Rohwedder ending up in a small town in Illinois. I know Joachim had a sister Maria born 1863 who immigrated in 1882. I've been told that his parents names were Joachim Rohwedder and Maria Magthalene Ihffe/Ehfe but I have not been able to find any information on them. Does any of this information sound familiar to anyone else researching the Rohwedder name?
