Dear members of this list, Prof. Dr. Timm has continued to research families at the Hamburg passenger list. Beneath the publishing's of the ARP, ROHWEDDER, DETHMANN, and TIETJEN emigrants of 1850-1870 and the TIMM emigrants of 1848-1900 we have just published the STOLTENBERG emigrants 1850-1870. You will find this at: http://www.genealogy-sh.com/timm/index.htm Regards, Hans Peter Voss
Viele Grüße Klaus Riecken, SHFam e.V.

Hello Jennifer, I note that the JÜRGENSEN family who emigrated by the "Humboldt" from Hamburg to Brisbane in 1870 were recorded as being from W. Langenhorn in Schleswig. Langenhorn is about 7 km north of Bredstedt. It is quite likely that the places recorded on the certificates are corrupted forms of some of the places in the Langenhorn/Bredstedt district. After the transcription was ready, he corrected and replaced the results with the information of the church books. The AGGSH e.V. (Genealogy-Work Group Schleswig-Holstein) has now published this incomparable work as database with 121.467 individuals. You can find it online here: http://www.aggsh.de/myscripts/vz_witt_start_eng.html The first site is in English, but the following sites are in GERMAN only because they are created automatically! I have a relative Anna JURGENSEN (nee WENCK) who came to Australia in 1870. Her death certificate gives her place of birth as Newentkarken, Holstein. Another source gives her birthplace as Breadlacht in Holstein. She was born 3 April 1838. Can anyone shed any light on these place names, obviously corrupted in English?
Suggest you look into the SH census records now on line at the AKVZ site - a wealth of material available. Johnny B in Mt Holly, NJ

I am from the OHLHUES line from Eddelak, Schleswig-Holstein and thought that if I posted some of my research that it may be beneficial to me and others. I am looking for information on the following: Johann OHLHUES, born 1730, married to Marike KUEHLKE (another spelling of her name, Marta Catherine KUHLTEN) Their son: Johann Jakob OHLHUES, born July 12, 1761, married Magdalena Christian DUHRSEN of Frockenwarfen on May 14, 1791 in Eddelak. Their son: Nicolaus OHLHUES, born about 1795, died 1864 at Vackenwarfen, Eddelak. He married Anna Amelia CARSTENS, born about 1810 and died January 26, 1855. I have a lot of information from this time to now that I am willing to share with other related people. Nola Goodwin Arkansas in the United States
Bob and Howard, Thank you both for your advice but I made an error. I'm actually looking to find when they emigrated. The passage from the Pottawattamie County book suggests that Peter RIEF came to Illinois in 1865 with his brothers arriving a short time later. My apologies for the mix-up. Mark
Dear Listers, My family history at present is centred within the area Kaltenkirchen - Quickborn - Wakendorf ll, from 1690 on. There seems to very little in the way of records accessible from overseas for this area. I am wondering if there are others who a searching in this area and if someone can point me to what is available, either on-line, on LDS film or on inter-library loan for the area. Just knowing with some certainty, what districts, parishes etc I should be seeking for census and registers would be a help. David Australia
A Family History Center recently opened close to where I live. My great-great grandfather and his brothers emigrated to the US during the 1860s, according to "The History of Pottawattamie County from the Earliest Day to 1907," one of them arrived in Illinois in time "to view the martyred body of President Lincoln." They came here from Erfde via Canada staying for a time in Chicago before settling in Crescent, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa. Does anyone know what films I need to look at to find them? Mark
