    1. finding family help
    2. Cindy Maschner
    3. Hello, I am new to this list. The 1920 United States Census for Wisconsin has my husband's great grandmother born 25 Sept 1857 in Schleswig, Germany. I am persuing her 3 children born 1878-1882 in Berlin and a possible marriage for her. Any helpful hints to find the family of Clara Zaetling/Zerlling/Zaertling? Possible parents Karl Zertling and Karolina Yehne. Are these Americanized spellings? She and husband and 3 children emmigrated on 8 November 1891 from Bremen to Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Husband's name is Wilhelm Marschner, his father possibly Rudolph Marschner; no locality for either. Not much to go on. Thank you for your help, Cindy in Southern California, USA

    3. Carol, the Davenport Library has a large amount of information besides Scott Co. You should call them and ask if they have what you need. 2. Ken Dohrman
    3. Karen, Some of the names you reference from the Clinton, IA area can be linked back to the Giekau area of Schleswig Holstein. Charles F. Dohrmann (b. 1856) married to Kathlena Matthiessen (b. 1863) and Claus Henry Dohrmann (b. 1849) married to Ida C. Feldmann (b.1846) are both descended from Hinrich Dorman (b. abt 1700) and Margret L. Schwerder (1701-1790). Charles is descended from Hinrich and Margret's eldest son Delev and Claus is descended from their other son, Hinrich, Jr (my branch of the Dohrmann family). If you wish additional detail, please contact me at kendo@cox.net Ken Dohrman ----- Original Message ----- > I noticed the Dohrman name on several posts and am looking for any > connections to families in the Clinton, Iowa areas: > Dohrman, Feldmann, Kunau, Matthieson > Thanks. > Karen >

    2. Dear list: Please add to the list of Giekau families the name Thiering it was not listed on the last mailing as that family didn't live in the Mineola area that I know of. But Klaus Struve has been very helpful with sharing information and translations and he is working on that name from the area. Thanks, Gary

The meeting in Mineola will be June 26 as the Date has changed. Some of the Kay family will be there but I am not sure if any Kay researchers are coming as of yet. Unless someone from Neola comes down. If you could send in a family descendancy for your Kay line with your E-mail on it and I would put copies on the table. Of course better yet would be for you to make a little trip here to Iowa and Join in we would love to meet you and you would sure meet a lot of cousins. Have a good day, Gary
