Hi Tricia, I'm not sure if I can help you but I'm in a similar position as my great great grandfather was a photographer and was born in Flensburg in 1862. He came to Australia in about 1883 but he may have gone to England or Italy first. Did Flensburg produce photographers? I'm looking for information on the following family (especially town name or any other records in Schleswig-Holstein and any records in Cook Co. Illinois) from Schleswig-Holstein (birthplace sometimes given as "Holstein" so they might be in that part of Schleswig-Holstein) Thomas Koeneke b 21 Nov 1820, migrated to USA between 1850 and 1857; settled initially in Cook County, Illinois; settled in Bremen, Kansas ~1860. I have Kansas information. Married Maria (Mary) Schotte (either in Germany or Illinois) Thomas' son William Henry Koeneke, b 16 Jul 1852, birthplace variously noted as Germany and Cook County, Illinois Alternate spellings Koneke, Konecke, Koenecke, Kohneke, Kohnecke

There was another sister as well, Christine. If there is any information you still need I can help you out. I've been looking through a film for the church records of Boel in the first half of the 1800s. The handwriting isn't too bad, but it would help to know what sort of information is contained in the entry. I can make out the name of the child and the parents. What else would typically be there? thanks, Stephen Pegler **************Looking for simple solutions to your real-life financial challenges? Hello Stephen, Since you said you were finding parents' and children's names, I am guessing you are looking at baptism records. Baptism records that I have from Schleswig-Holstein typically incude: Date of birth / Date of baptism / Name of child / son of or daughter of / occupation of father / father's name / father's location, where from / mother's name / where mother was from / if the baptism was at church or at home / the names and home locations of the godparents. The reference to son or daughter may include whether they were legitimate. Hope that is helpful.
