He emigrated aboard the Cimbria in the spring of 1872, leaving the port of Hamburg on March 20, 1872. He is likely to be the Juergen Hinrich Heesch who left Germany without bidding the military authorities the appropriate farewell. 1. [SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN-ROOTS] Jurgen Heesch is on Rootdigger
    2. Barbara Petura
    3. Hello, A Jurgen Heesch born about 1853 is listed on the Rootdigger Web site for Schleswig-Holstein. You can see the entry by going to this Web page at the site: http://www.rootdigger.de/Emi.htm Then click on H on the left side, and that will begin downloading a long list of emigrants, names starting with H. Click to allow the document to open. Then scroll down until you find him. Unfortunately no parents' names for him. The Web site owner or someone else on this list might know also about the location you list, Luderheisledt. I cannot find it -- or anything close -- via Google or on lists of Holstein towns and villages, so perhaps it is spelled some other way? Also there is a Yurgen Heesch, age 18, a farmer, who arrived in New York City on 4 April 1872 on the ship Cimbria from Hamburg via Le Havre, and is not with other individuals of that name. Perhaps this is your husband's great grandfather. I have appreciated working with Klaus Struve, owner of Rootdigger. Feel free to email me. Best wishes, Barbara ________________________________ From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, November 25, 2008 3:03:37 PM Subject: [SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN-ROOTS] Jurgen Heesch This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. I thought that was you. I did find some census data on a Danish site that I believe could be Christian (senior) as a child. I recall sending it to you for comment as I thought you may recognize some of the brothers/sisters. Didn't get reply so figured it got scooped up by the junk mail manager. Anyway, the Danes did several censuses for Bordesholm, but only one, 1835 (as I recall) was fully transcribed and posted, but others are in the works. If you are interested in the site and the information I found, I probably can find it and send it, just let me know where. You are correct. I am Thomas Reeves from Lincoln Nebraska. I found this thread and wanted to post a comment just in case someone had additional information. I haven't had much luck going past Christian. Christian did take his family back to Europe in 1900 for a few months. They went on the ship "Deutschland", which was an all first class ship and the fastest boat of the time. He also had several Maxwell cars, which were noted as the sports car of it's time. Not a typical vehicle, but the Stuehmer's had money and Christian liked being up to date with the latest technology and gadgets of the time. 3. I too have ancestors from Kronprinzenkoog, about 10 or 15 yrs ago I wrote to the Pastor of the church in Marne Kurt B. Segebrect pastor em. Oesterstr. 10 DW 2222 Marne/Holstein Germany He was very helpful, told me how much for each lookup and what small church to contact. I think the Church in Marne was in charge of the small nearby town Churches.
