    3. Hi Listers, I am still looking for the family of my Margaret PETERS. She married Johann CLASSEN (Claussen, Clasen, Clausen, etc.) of Sankt Annen about 1765. They had at least one child, Wiebke Classen, who married Johann Haack in Wesselburen in 1790. Best, Gregg Bonner Bethany, Oklahoma, USA

    1. [SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN-ROOTS] Peters Family
    2. Jan Kokrda
    3. Diana, This really is interesting, maybe we could have a connection! My grt. grandfather, and his 2 bro. in laws all lived in Omaha for a few years too. I do know of a niece that came to live with my grandfather's family, Minni Prus, which a cousin of my father's has told me. She died and was supposedly buried in the German cemetery in Plainview, NE but I can't find any record of that back in 1898 or so. But I don't recall a nephew coming I think this lady did say a brother to this girl came to Omaha but have tried to trace that too. Their mother had died in Germany and the father did not have means to care for them. I don't know what the cause of death was for Minni. I live in Omaha and have not found anything and have checked. Plainview, Ne is my original home town so I have searched it. I don't know how they could have been related to this grt. grandfather either, it could be on many sides. My grt grandfather's family Hinrich Lorenz b. 1846, his wife Louise Kuhl, as follows: his parents, Detlev Holm Lorenz and wife Christina von Stamm (her second marriage) Their children: Anna, Detlev Holm married Antje Dresen,Matthias, Peter, Christina, and my grt. grandfather Hinrich. (Christina married a Hans Graves and lived in Co. Bluffs, IA, but don't know anything about the rest. The first marriage of Christina also had 5 children: Antje,Friedrich,Thoms,Trienke married twice, and Hans. So really could be any of these families. This info from Detlev's death record. I have communicated with many of Christina, the child's family, in IA too. Then the Wulf family was Nicolaus Wulf b. 1846, wife Amalia Kuhl, Nicolaus's family : parents Claus of Hennstedt and Catharina Husted Wulf (of Delve) Magdalena and Claus Johann died as infants, Catharina Magdelena married Johann Mueller, Maria, Nicolaus - my grt grandfather, Hermann came to OH, Ferdinand Dierck supposedly came to OH too but can't trace him for sure. Some of the Wulfs changed the spelling to Wolf and was sometimes in Germany Wulff. This info from Claus's death record. I have communicated with Hermann's family still in Ohio. I had a researcher get most of this info for me since the Family History Center has not filmed this area. They have a film that is like a church census which is what I started with. Then the researcher went from there. I do need to see if I can get some more records as I have some holes in my tree that are still not filled. Any connections let me know, I will let the sting attached so we can look back, Jan Kokrda in Omaha Your message: I just read my Great Grandfathers story again and on his immigration records it has him going to Illinois. and in his story it has them ending up in Omaha, Nebraska living with and Uncle for two months. and in Nebraska is were his sister left her son with him and then disappeared. From their he went to Minnesota, Washington State, Idaho and back to Washington State were he died in Spokane, Washington. So the Uncle must have moved to Nebraska, your story of your Family in Illinois and them moving to Nebraska is so much the same story in my Great Grandfathers story. Your Family went to Nebraska in 1880 and my Family in 1883. ( maybe we are related and maybe not, but it sounds fishy) I got Johan Peters birth date from the record my cousin Rose has, I think it was a vaccination record and he was age 11 in 1835. and I got Webka Margaretha ? from her head stone in Leland, Idaho. I will have to email Rose and see what she thinks about this. 3. Diana, I have been searching and reading your e-mail about Peters family and trying to piece it to my ancestors from the Hennstedt and Schlichting area. And I did have a great grandfather that lived in Illinois from 1872-1881. His name was Hinrich Lorenz. He was related to Carstens, Wulfs, and Kuhls in the Hennstedt area. He had many older Lorenz siblings of which I have never been able to trace as only 2 came to the US that I know about. But somewhere I have something that has a Peters as a baptism sponsor or something but have looked through and can't find it. I have this website which contains census from S-H and maybe you can piece together some info for your family. I did find all my ancestors listed since I knew where they came from. Where did you find the info for the birth records of Webka and Johan? Hinrich Lorenz's wife was a Kuhl, Hinrich being from Schlichting, and in the Wulf line Nicolaus Wulf was married to a Kuhl also and the Wulf's were from Hennstedt. So we are searching from the same area. Lorenz's came to Chicago and were married there, Wulf's went to Pt. Clinton, OH and then all came to Nebraska around 1880. This is the census website that has many Peters from this area. Put in Hennstedt in first location think it is dorf - place. The year can be set too and the 1860 yeaar is about the last that had most info on Peters. We wish it was completed further. But it is something to work with if you know more about your Peters family. This is the website : http://danishgenealogy.homestead.com/danishgenealogy.html Go to the bottom where it is listed as Schleswig-Holstein Census. 1. [SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN-ROOTS] Peters Family...
    2. Dear Diana, I doubt that I have any new information on your Peters family, but I noticed some interesting similarities to my Family History. I live here in Washington State, and in 1904 a sister of my grandfather, Peter Hinrich Johannsen (aka Phillip Henry Johnson) ,wrote a letter to a widely circulated German newspaper in Chicago, Illinois trying to locate her brother. Her address at the time was Hoquiam, Washington. Due to many convoluted circumstances my grandfather never saw the advertisement, nor did the family in California who saw the ad, ever answer that letter. My grandfather did eventually settled in the Seattle area. The two siblings passed as ships in the night, and an entire branch of the family is unknown. Another thing that caught my eye was the mention of Hennstedt. Are you talking of the Hennstedt in Norder Dithmarschen? The Johannsen line was in and around that area for many generations. I find that I have a Margrethe Peters in my data base who married a Hans Marx, probably around 1750. I have done a little research on microfilm in that area. This is just a sidelight; if I can be of further assistance to you, let me know... JUDITH Bremerton, WA

    1. [SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN-ROOTS] Research on Butenschon/Kaack
    2. I am doing research on the Butenschon family from the Brokstedt area north of Hamburg.  My great great grandmother, Anna Christena Kaack was born in Altona in 1867 and migrated to the US settling in Missouri in 1884.  She left behind her mother Anna Christina Kaack nee Butenschon and possibly a sibling (Arthur Kaack) in Germany.  Her mother, Anna Christina Butenschon was born to Hinrich and Margarethe (Fock) Butenschon in Brokstedt in 1839.  She lived in Brokstedt and Bad Bramstedt before moving to Altona where she eventually married a man with the last name Kaack.  I am still searching for more information on him, he supposedly left on a ship for the US sometime between 1868 and 1874 and was never heard from again.  In 1875, Anna Christina Butenschon remarried Nicholaus Hansen and moved to Bad Bramstedt until his death in 1902 when I suspect that she moved back to Hamburg to stay with sisters. I was in Germany in May 2008 and researched in Bad Bramstedt and will return to Hamburg for more research in February 2009.  If anyone has any leads or information on the Butenschon or Kaack families, please let me know.  I am happy to share what I have, pictures and German documents. Thank you, Jennifer Watts [email protected]
