I have in Elk River Twp, Clinton, Co., Iowa Magdalena Margareta Lucia "Lena" VOLLBEHR (Born: 18 Dec 1838, Kopperpahl (Kiel) , Schleswig-Holstein, Germany; Died: ?), emmigrated to Clinton, Co., IA in 1854 from Fleckeby, Schleswig, Germany with her mother, father and siblings. She is found in the 1856 IA Census and the 1860 US Census. (Search for next-door-neighbor John DOYLE Abt 1821, because VOLLBEHR is badly mangled by non-German speaking census takers.) I am doing pretty well with her siblings, but I do not have any leads on her going forward. Is this the same Iowa VOLLBEHR family in which you have an interest? Iam researching my father's family Hartmann. If anyone is researching a Hartmann family from Schleswig-Holstein and have come across a Karl Theodor Gottfried Albrecht Hartmann, would love to hear from them. He sometimes dropped his first two names as the records on his children records show. He married Ottine Onsberg in Horsens City in 1796 aged 30yrs occupation Company Surgeon, he then moved to Fredericia in 1797 as his first and subquantly 6 children were born listed in Fredericia. can't find his death in Fredericia. I cannot read German so it makes reading some of the records hard. Thanks Aileen Young
Dorie, thank you very much. I just added the dates you sent me. Do you too have the dates for Elvera? Did they have kids? The Sindt-families came from the Probstei-area near Kiel. I have some pics from Sindt-gravestones in Iowa. Are you interested? Do you know the Schleswig-Holstein-Roots-List? It´s a mailing-list for Americans with ancestors in Schl.-Holstein. I give your question into the list. Maybe you get some answers. Dear Mr. Marquardt, I understand your message to indicate that you are interested in doing research in the area of the places you mention. I am wondering if you might know of a researcher/geneaologist from the Berlin/Potsdam area you could recommend to me. The research concerns a Lutheran pastor who lived in Potsdam that one of my great uncles visited in the 1930s. My great uncle and the pastor were cousins. I hope that a study about him would lead to relatives of my great grand parents. Thank you for your advice. Irvin S. Dear Diana, I stopped at the Family History Center for you this morning, to look at the Birth, Marriage, and Death indexes of the Hennstedt Parish Records that I have on indefinite loan. These are films from the Family History Library on Salt Lake: 1198870, 1198871, and 1198872. There were lots of Peters, so I thought that I would be able to find some of the names quite easily, but that was not the case. I thought that the marriage index would reveal an entry for them in 1824, and with that we could find out Wiebke's name. I have wondered if when your family said Hennstedt, if they didn't mean that Hennstedt was the larger place and it was actually one of the smaller villages within the parish--much like we say 'the Seattle area' or the 'near Spokane.' If you have any questions about using FamilySearch I would be glad to help you... Author: Manatee3 Surnames: GRAAF, HARTZ Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.ceeurope.germany.schleswig.general/6210/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am trying to find information on Hans Friedrich Wilhelm (von) Graaf and his wife. He was born in Böhnhusen on 18 April 1853, married Juliane Maria Magdalena Hartz who was born in Kiel on 19 June 1956. Hans died in Hamburg, Germany on 13 March 1936 and Juliane died about 03 Feb 1938, also in Hamburg. Would anyone know what church or office I would contact for their birth records? They were Lutheran. Thanks in advance for any help anyone might have Janet Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
