I wonder if the Margarete you write about is my great grandmother. Sounds likely doesn't it? She would have had a son and daughter, Helen and Nickolas of Warjasch. Your explanation of the last names may be why I never could find Magarete and Helen on the Ellis Island records. I have never heard of her grandson Nick before or a sister of Helen. If you are able (and willing) to post a picture I'd be very grateful to see it. There used to be a family bible in the house I grew up in but it disappeared at some point. Too bad, I've been told it had some family history recorded in it, written in German. Still hope it will turn up someday in someone's attic.
