She was born Bertha Emrich, daughter of Adam and Karolina Rulf Emrich. They were farmers in Madison County, Nebraska. Karolina was my paternal grand-aunt. Adam and Karolina came to the U S in 1884, one year after my grandfather (her brother) came over. The Rulf's came from the Rheinland-Pfalz area near Ramstein (the village name is Kottweiler-Schwanden). I do have dates if you think you need them. I have no ancestral information on Theodore Scheer so do not know if there is a connection. Thank you for your inquiry and good "hunting."

Just didn't see it at the time I responded to this. I haven't been doing any scheer or truitt research for some time, but do receive info from the list servers as others write in. I decided to put out a feeler and copy you. You have a lot more info there than I remembered. Are you interested in continuing that now? There seems to be a lot of Scheer inquiries lately, more than in past years. Don't know why. Do you want to pick up the trail, or dialog with other Scheer researchers? Two brothers, Peter and Frank Scheer came to Cleveland, Ohio around the 1870's. Peter was a tailor and Frank a boot fitter. There is a Mathius Scheer (he was older...maybe an uncle) and Anna Scheer buried in the family plot. Mathius may have lived in the Wisconsin area. Peter and Frank are believed to be from Zell, Germany on the Mosel. It is heresay that we are related to Admiral Scheer. Their parents were Josef Scheer and Elizabeth Weitz or Wirtz. Can you make a connection? Also researching Backus, Lang, De Witt, Shrode, Fecher Mary Beth

Valentine and Mary Catherine Scheer came to Ohio about 1830 from Germany?. They had at least four children: Valentine Jr., John (my ancestor), Catherine (Laufer) and Caroline (Huffman). John married Elizabeth Zoeller (Zellars) and they had eight children: Jacob, Caroline, Mary, John, Frederick, Elizabeth, Henry and David. This generation added an "s" to the end of the name. Frederick moved to Illinois after the civil war (41st OVI) and married 1) Mary Agnes Kane 2) Anna Leach: His children by his first wife were Charles (moved to MN), John (moved to Alberta, Canada) and Nellie (Shade). Son by his second wife was Fay V. Scheers. I would love to share information with anyone related to this family. Debby

She was 21 at the time, resided at 71 Connan St and was born in NYC. She was the daughter of Conrad and Louise Scheer. The witnesses were Frank Scheer and George Herlich. I also have an Alfred H. If this helps anyone, that would be great. I know tht Matilda was a widow by 1890 and lived at 144 Stanton St.
