Hi Judy, Thanks you for the response to my message. My husbands Grandmother was a Scheer (Lena Caroline), I belive her father was Rinehart Scheer. She married Rudolph Gotlieb Siegrist, they lived in Texas and Howell Counties in Missouri. They are both burried in Texas Co. just a few miles out of Willow Springs. I don't have any of the information in front of me right now but if any sounds familiar I would love to share information with you. Scheer. He was born in Sep 1844. I do not know where he came from. He may not have been from Meiersberg himself. I have not been able to nail his birth place down as of yet. But I do not have any Equitz in my family tree. I guess we will have to keep on looking. Maybe it will go full circle and we will find we are related after all. However, subsequent research has shown me that her husband was born in or around Stralsund and that he had 2 younger siblings born in Jatznick, which is less than 7 miles from a Meiersberg, so that's why your Caroline Scheer (nee Krueger) interested me. They had a son, Andre, who was born Aug 15, 1786 and married Anna Marguerite Bowe. He was a weaver. My ggggrandmother was Marguerithe Scheer, born 1820, also in Alsace. The town was Mertzweiller. Both Gustav and Geoffroy were involved in several wars/battles in Europe before coming to the US in 1861, just in time for the Civil war. I see your post was from a few years ago. Funny I would find it now - just a couple of weeks ago I met with one of Philip and Roofine Scheer's great grandsons. They shared some family pictures with me, including some of the Sobley Family. I am only related to Philip through his wife Roofine Hahn, and thus am not related to the Sobleys at all. I would be glad to share the photos I have though, and to put you in touch with the cousin who gave them to me. I'm sure he would be interested in the letter from Philip Scheer that you have. -Kimberly-
