T. Norwood, near Quarry, this county. The young man was cleaning out his gun, a muzzle loader and intended to twist a load out of one barrel. In order to do this he cocked one of the barrels, leaned the gun against the side of the house and went away for something. When he returned he picked up the gun by the barrel and drew it towards him. In doing so the trigger or hammer caught on a nail, causing the gun to go off, and the whole load entered the young man's right side. The nearest physician was sent for immediately, but the unfortunate young man was beyond the aid of medical attention. He died in half an hour after the deplorable accident. He was buried at Bethlehem church the next day. The funeral was attended by a large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives.
