Looking for info./verification of the history of EDITH LIGON(3rd gr. grandmother), b. 1809(?), Laurens Co.(?) d. 8 Apr. 1871, Huntsville, Ala. - Parents- Robert Ligon b 1786 ???/ Ester Alexander b. 1790 ??? EDITH LIGON married Benjamin Lewis Goodman (1798-1866) on 8 December 1826-they were living in Tyler, Texas (Smith Co.) by 1853. In the 1860 Smith Co., Texas (Tyler) census Benjamin Lewis Goodman was listed as the guardian of a ROBERT LIGON, age 18, $10,000 R.E. value and $51,000 personal value. He was attending school in 1860. He then enlisted, was captured and released and died soon after the end of the war(?). Benjamin Lewis Goodman died intestate and I have located a letter, written in August 1866, from his son-in-law, George W. Chilton, requesting the 'administrator' to sell some land to help EDITH LIGON GOODMAN-as she had no money. Can anyone help me with info. about this EDITH LIGON- father/mother/siblings? Also, ---ROBERT LIGON --How was he related? Possibly the nephew of Edith- in 1860 she was 51 and he 18. And then there is the question of Robert's wealth-at age 18. Would really like help on this. ANY help would be appreciated!! Many thanks George Rice 2/179A Nile St. East Nelson New Zealand 64-3-545-9123 gbr@actrix.gen.nz
