    1. RE: [SCGREENW] Greenwood County Farm
    2. Michelle M Wells
    3. Missy and John, Though growing up in Greenwood, I had never heard of the County Farm, but you peaked my interest. I found a charcoal sketch of it by artist Shirley Chason in the book "Greenwood County--The Artist's View, a project published in 1976 by the Greenwood County Artists' Guild. The caption reads: "Located about five miles east of Greenwood on East Cambridge Road stands what remains of the Old County Farm. Established by Greenwood County about 1897 for the care of those poor and elderly people incapable of caring for themselves, the farm was subsidized, and "chain-gang" labor was employed to work the farm to feed the occupants of the home. The farm was discontinued in 1944 and the land is now owned by Mr. S. E. Adams, Sr." I will be happy to scan the picture into a jpg. attachment if you are interested. Just e-mail me to let me know. Hope you and your Mom are happy and well, Missy, Michelle Manley Wells mmwells@charter.net
