    2. I just happen to have this obit (I copy all Phillips obits - there is not connection to my line that I know of - yet.) Anderson Independent, Monday, Nov 26, 1956 C. E. Phillips TRAVELERS REST - Nov 25 - Clarence E. Phillips, 54, a native of Anderson County, died in a Greenville Hospital early Sunday morning. He was ill two weeks. Mr. Phillips was a son of the George Robert Phillips and the late Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Landress Phillips. He had been making his home in Travelers Rest for the past 16 years, where he engaged in carpentry work. He was a member of Whitefield Baptist Church in Anderson County. In addition to his father, Mr. Phillips is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Virginia Buchanan, of Greenville; Mrs. Catherine Capps, of Travelers Rest, Mrs. Willie Mae Roberts of Walterboro; one brother, J. W. Phillips, of Travelrs Rest; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Williams, of Pelzer. Eight granchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at Reedy River Baptist Church near Travelers Rest by the Rev. S. P. Hester, the Rev. Don Howell and the Rev. Albert Johnson. Burial will be in Pelzer cemetery. The body is at the home of J. W. Phillips, after 3 o'clock Monday afternoon. The Stilwell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
