    1. [SCGREENV] RE: John McKINNEY who were your parents?

    3. Hi, I am new to the list, after recently discovering a possible link to the Greenville SC McKINNEY'S. My brick wall is John McKINNEY b: about 1808 in SC. John had married (wife unknown), and they had possible children; Frank (said to have gone to TX as a young man), James W (from census info in AL, which also gave evidence John may have spent time in GA. James W is listed as born in GA), Sarah (E or Jane?), and others?? John first shows up in Dale Co AL census about 1830 (listed as John M Kinney, so I am assuming he is mine??). No listing for him in 1840. 1850 he is in Henry Co AL, age 42, value 400, a blacksmith, b: SC (all I have to go on). His first wife has died, and he married in AL in 1844 to a Emily HIX/HICKS. In 1860 Dale Co census John McKENNY is 52, now a merchant, value considerably more 1500/1500, wife Emily is 30, James W is 26 b: GA (definitely not Emily's), Sarah Jane 13, (possible Emily's), John W & Marion (twins boys). John & Emily McKINNEY had children: John W, Marion, Missouri, Aaron, Joseph (my line) and Benjamin. John appears to have died between 1867 (Benjamin's birth) and the 1870 census (where Emily is alone with the children). NOTE: There were several sets of twins born in my McKinney line. Does anyone have a lost 'child' of a descendant named "John McKINNEY".........? I would love to make a connection and know where and from whom my gg-grandfather came. Thanks for any help! Linda
