May 26, 1904 Spartanburg, SC Mr. E.M. Williams died at the residence of his son, J.C. [Jesse ?] Williams on South Ch. St. Mr. Williams was a native of Tennessee and abt. 78 years old. He served in the Civil War as a member of Earle's Battery. Mrs. Williams [Clarissa ?] died 18 months ago. He was a member of the Bapt. ch., interment at Oak Grove cem. The pallbearers were C.E. Rowe, A.B. Correll, John Bomar, J.H. James, J.W. Allen and R.E. Foster.
