Hanks, of Sandy Flats, was in the city yesterday, Mr. Hanks is 93 years old and has served though three wars. The first, when he was quite a young man he fought in what was know as the Florida war, when the Indians and white settlers had such high old times early in the thirties. In 1846 he joined the troops under Gen. Winfred Scott and fought through the Mexican war until 1848. In 1860 he went to the front and battled bravely during four years of the civil war in the Confederate army, returning to this county where he has made his home. He has been drawing a pension for a number of years as a veteran of the Mexican war. The old man is relatively feeble but in good health and loves to talk and tell stories of by gone days of war and strife.
