Hello Dan, My Stewart and Ford families came to Spartanburg co. SC from Amelia co. VA. before 1790. Edward Stewart married Mary (polly) Ford about 1787 in Amelia co. and followed her parents, William and Louisa Johnson Ford who were already in Spartanburg. Edward was the son of William Stewart and Mary --------? of Amelia co. William was believed to be the son of John Stewart s/o Daniel and Mary Bowman Stewart d/o Edward Bowman. William Ford born about 1840 is possibly the son of Hezekiah Ford and Elizabeth Clements but this is speculative. William died in 1817 near Duncan in Spartanburg co. SC. Louisa Johnson is believed to be the daughter of John Johnson and Elizabeth Ellyson also of Amelia co. Living in and near all these folks in Raleigh Parish, Amelia co. was David and John Crawford. who owned large tracks of land that was granted in 1736 and 1740. John also owned land in Nottaway parish. Amelia co. which later became Nottaway co. and joined that of Lunenburg.
