I am descended from G. W. HENDRIX and his wife S. Mariah. This family has been hard to research for a long time now. This is what I know: S. Mariah HENDRIX is buried at Ebenezer Methodist Church, Batesville, Greenville Co., SC. Her marker says she is the wife of G. W. HENDRIX, that she was born 15 May 1915 and died 12 Aug 1886. There is no marker for G. W. HENDRIX. I first find this family in the 1850 Census in the Rocky Creek Division of Greenville Co., SC. Mariah is the head of household with the following children: Sarah A. HENDRIX. Sarah is buried at Ebenezer Methodist Church with her husband, J. W. SMITH. Her marker says she was born 1 Sep 1832 and died 22 Mar 1873. Rosa J. HENDRIX. (My Ancestor). Rosa is buried at Ebenezer Methodist Church with her husband, William Pinckney RODDY. Her marker says she was born 9 May 1838 and died 25 Mar 1885. Mary HENDRIX. Census says she was born about 1942. James A. HENDRIX. James is buried at Ebenezer Methodist Church with his wife, Margaret Amelia. His marker says he was born 13 Jul 1845 and died 5 Sep 1913. Missouri HENDRIX. Missouri (called Madora in 1850 census) is buried at Ebenezer Methodist Church. Her marker says she was born 5 Oct 1848 and died 4 Nov 1930. Her marker says she was the wife of M. J. SHIRLEY. There is no marker for him. Elizabeth HENDRIX. 1850 Census says she was born about 1849. Age indicates she would have been a twin. Martha HENDRIX. 1850 Census says she was born about 1849. Age indicates she would have been a twin. Last year I discovered, through another researcher, that there was a C. Mariah MAYFIELD, daughter of William MAYFIELD, who received a bequest from her father's estate in mid 1860's) G. Washington HENDRIX, husband of Mariah, was evidently dead by that time as his debts to William MAYFIELD were forgiven in the will. I have not yet found this family in the 1860 census.
