Our Hartwell married Sarah Ann Springfield, granddaughter of Laodicea Langston and Thomas Springfield. Hartwell was born 1823 or 1824 in Greenville, S. C., Sarah was born 12 Jan. 1821 in Greenville. S. C. He died in prison hospital in Chattanooga, TN. during Civil War. He had lost an arm and died of pneumonia. She died and is buried in Clayton Cemetary, Gadsden, AL. Sarah was carrying our grandfather when her husband died. We have some information of land deals of Robert T. and Hartwell buying land jointly from their father, deed recorded Nov.11, 1843 in Greenville, S.C. Also Hartwell sold 169 acres near Enoree River on Ashville, Road. Could this be family of your Richards? We have not found the name of Hartwells' father but think our Hartwell may be a Jr. Please reply.
