Many papers and indexes are now online for Greenville County, S. Carolina at: http://www.greenvillecounty.org/Historical_Records/Default.asp Begin your search and go to PROBATE COURT, then INDEX TO ESTATE PAPERS. Go to 1787-1976, and choose the letter "D". This will bring up scanned images of the Index. Go to page 165 of 461, by entering 165 in the "View Page" box. The first entry on page is M. G. DILLARD. His papers are in Apartment # 41, File # 9. Papers were filed in 1878 and John T. Dillard is the Administrator. With the above information, you can now send a request to the South Carolina Room at the Greenville County Library. Go to their webpage: http://www.greenvillelibrary.org/services/SCroom/index.html >From there you can access the "Records Search Form" which you fill out and mail to the Library with the appropriate fee. I've sent in requests this way and usually receive the requested papers in 7-10 days. To: scgreenv@rootsweb.com I am very interested in getting a copy of Manning Green Dillard's will recorded in 1878 (John T. Dillard was the executor according to the information given to me). I checked the Greenville Library website and it says they have wills from 1782-1868, so I am wondering if I can get a copy from the courthouse or if I need to go to Columbia? Thanks for any help in this matter!! Sue Copeland in Warner Robins, Georgia
