Thank you so much for the useful information Billie, I never knew the difference before and will keep this information for future reference. Luckily I did request the box and package #s so hopefully will get the originals. I'm patiently waiting but very anxious to see what they contain!! Sue Copeland in over 100 degree Warner Robins, Georgia ------------------------------ With all the discussion regarding Will and probate and Estate records, I'll add a little advice I learned. I got several wills from the original will books, that were probably transcribed into the books by the clerk. Later, I decided to to make a copy of the box and package #s given to have a copy of the original. You can order full estate records from the State archives. Some give more than others, and it is wonderful, although I am sure they did not think so at the time, if there is a dispute filed in the Court of Equity. Lots of the pages include the inventory and sale of the property, that may not be of interest to you and does run up the cost of the copies. But they gives some insight into other names to look at for neighbors, cousins, and other kinship. So.... my opinion.... never write for a will. Write for the estate records in the Box and Package numbers found in the index. And ask for PROBATE records, not wills, so they will include testate and intestate records.
