Augusta and myself, it actually gets signed into law! It's not a perfect law, but it certainly is a big-step in the right direction. Relatives can now visit the graves of love ones located on private property, thanks to our efforts. ----------------------------------------------------------- View Bill S.65 at http://www.scstatehouse.net/sess117_2007-2008/bills/65.htm 29-Jun-2007 Mr. Kankula: Senator Martin asked me to let you know that the Governor signed Bill S.65 on June 27th. The Senator was pleased that it made it all the way through the process this time. Cindy Ledbetter Office of Senator Larry A. Martin (803) 212-6340 ----------------------------------------------------------- You may have not experienced this problem, but I assure you that it's not uncommon to have landowners wanting you to stay off their property..! It's also not uncommon for landowners to let their livestock desecrate a cemetery or simply over-plant the graves with crops and claim they didn't do it. To help document the location of all known cemeteries throughout the state, I'm in the final stages of completing a Cemetery GPS Mapping Project at http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/southcarolina/sc-graves/sc-graves1.html. I hope that you will find this law to be of value and that you'll spread the word of its passing. Now if the following problem could only be solved... No SC government agency is maintaining a database for human remains that are moved due to road construction, lake forming, building construction, etc. As a result, no one can tell you where the graves of your love ones have been moved to after a few years. Unbelievable..! Regards, Paul M.
