In 1842 Jesse Kinard Welch, b. 1817, sued the estate of John Peter Kinard, saying he was son of Catherine Weedeman, formerly Welch. John Peter Kinard had marrid a relative of Jesse Welch's mother (Catherine Sligh). I worked on John Kinard bio in last year but never updated the CAtherine Welch part of the Weedaman bio. However there were two death certificates filed, the second with the name Whitman for Nancy. See notes under Polly Anne for further explaination. Surnames commonly seen for Nancy are Whitmire, Whitman, Wedenman and Wedaman. I have chosen to use Whitman as it is the name on daughter Polly's second, more complete death certificate. Notes for David Morgan: Information provided by Mark McCall e-mail [email protected] on both Nancy and David's names. Source of date, as well from Mark on Nancy's birth. Nancy's death date comes as an estimate based on not being able to find her with her family in census records of 1860. She may have been one of the possible victims of the Indigo poisoning, that was supposed to have occurred sometime in the 1850s. 11/4/03 Update on the note above. I have been in contact recently with another researcher by the name of Steve Morgan, [email protected] who has done some more research with the Carolina Morgans, which shows my Polly Anne to be a daughter of David Morgan and Nancy Wedenman. Upon further research with Steve's help I was able to determine that the Surnames Whitman and Wedenman, also seen as Wedaman are interchangable and many of the descendants used one or the other. In addition see notes under Nancy Whitman as to how I determined that her name was Whitman as opposed to Whitmire. This is a continued work in progress as there still are questions and conflicts to be worked out. However the probability of this being the accurate parentage and ancestry of Polly Anne is very high. I'd even say 90 plus %. Changes and updates will be made as they are discovered.
