Marriage and Death Notices From the Up-Country of South Carolina as taken from Greenville newspapers 1826-1863; compiled by Brent H. Holcomb, C. A. L. S. page 187: "Death of an Aged Pair. Died in Greenville District on Friday, the 1st September, 1848, Mrs. Mary Turner in the 85th year of her age, and on Sunday the 3d inst., Mr. Sion Turner in the 83rd year of his age. They were buried in the same grave. This aged couple had lived together as man and wife for about 60 years and died in 52 hours of each other. They were both natives of Granville County, North Carolina, but had lived in this District for the last fifty years. They raised a large and respectable family, and have left children and numerous grand children and friends to venerate their memory. Form many years infirmities of body but not of mind had hindered Mr. Turner from a public profession at the church, whilst Mrs. Turner had been a consistent member of the Baptist Church."
