According to "Our Hawkins Cousins" by Delores Hawkins McDonald (1980), Ezekiel Hawkins, son of William Eaton Hawkins and his wife Catherine, was born in Greenville County, SC, June 18, 1789/90. Eekiel married Mary Hawkins about 1807 in Greenville, SC. Mary is thought to be the daughter of Benjamin Hawkins of Rutherford County, NC, but this has not been proved. Their seventh child was Alfred Madison Hawkins, born 3 June 1823. McDonald's book has considerable information about Ezekiel and his descendants.
