I have recently found messages that you have written about Breaker Family History and would like to know if you have any information about the ancestry of Jacob Manly Canty Breaker -- father-Lewis Frederick Breaker - mother-Martha Canty Breaker. I know that Charles Middleton Breaker (South Carolina) is a cousin of Jacob Manly Canty Breaker, so Lewis Frederick must have had a brother or uncle with the Breaker name. Lewis Frederick Breaker and wife, Martha moved to Key West Florida in 1828 when son--J.M.C. was almost 5 years old. They left J.M.C. to live with his cousin, Charles Middleton Breaker in Camden S.C. where Charles pastored First Baptist Church, Camden. Evidently, J.M.C. was raised by his cousin, Charles. I have a copy of Charles Middleton Breaker's will and I also have a copy of a will of Susan Breaker -- Camden, S.C. I have not figured out how these are related to Lewis Frederick, yet but I am working on it. Any information you can give me would be appreciated. Lewis Frederick Breaker's father was George W. Broecker. George came to South Carolina from Prussia in the late 1770's with a brother of his named Conrad Broecker. When they finally arrived in South Carolina after waiting two years on the Island of Barbadoes for the American Revolution to end, they changed their names. I know George changed his name from Broecker to Breaker. And, Conrad changed his name too, but possibly to something else. Jacob Manly Canty Breaker married Emma Juliette Juhan on October 11, 1848. J.M.C. was pastor of Greenville Baptist Church in Greenville S.C. at the time. They had 11 children. He pastored in several churches in S.C. and Missouri before moving to Houston, TX in 1877 to pastor First Baptist Houston. He did pastor a church for a short 8 months in Ukiah CA in 1888 after leaving First Baptist Houston, and then moved back to Marshall, TX to pastor First Baptist Marshall from 1889-1894. He went back to Houston to die at the age of 69 (almost 70). His wife stayed in Houston where most of her children lived. She died in 1918 at the age of 87. I have information about most of J.M.C. and Emma's children and grandchildren. Again, any information you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks, Betty Breaker Marcontell
