    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: ncanders2 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.southcarolina.counties.greenville/6486/mb.ashx Message Board Post: VOICES OF OUR MOUNTAIN KIN, Volume 2 book is now open for pre-publication orders! The book is 180 pages, soft cover, with MORE stories, legends, memoirs, and photos of our mountain ancestors! It was compiled by the members of the Mountain Kin Yahoo group, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MountainKin, as one way to attain their primary goal to trace and record our ancestors who lived and died in the foothills and mountains of the Blue Ridge, Balsams and the Great Smokies. Some of the titles and photos in the book are: "First National Bank of Wolf Mountain", "John Owen Kills a Bear", "Spencer Mull: Meat Clerk", and "Going Back Home." Many of the stories in the book are memories of "home" in the mountains. Chapter titles include "Life in the Mountains", "Family Histories and Tributes", and "Annals of the Past". Also included in the book are several of the Senior Profiles written by Dawn Jiles-McCall which have appeared in the Transylvania Times this year. The cover of Vol. 2, VOICES OF OUR MOUNTAIN KIN is a wonderful photo provided by Yvonne McCall Dickson of Easter "Hettie" McCall Owen. Her grandson, Ingamar McCall, is the driver of the car. This photo seemed to be a perfect representation of the main theme of the book which is explained so well in Linda Suddeth Casey's story, "Bringing History Home." Other photos include families and individuals with a cross-section of local surnames: Morgan, Galloway, McCall, McKinney, Barton, Cantrell, Chapman, Mason, Gravely, Hamlin, Anders, Owen, Chappell, Lowe, Holcombe and more! Vol. 2 will be selling for the same price as Vol. 1, $17.95. However, if you order BEFORE AUGUST 1, 2007, you can get it for $16 plus shipping. Shipping & handling is $3 for the first book, $1 for ea. additional book in the same order. Prepaid books will be available for pick up at the Lake Toxaway Community Center during MountainKin's Storytelling Event, open to the public to attend, 4 to 5:30 pm on Saturday, Aug. 4. Any books not picked up will be shipped immediately after that date. So, for about what you'd pay for two people to go to McDonald's, you can get a book that will give you a lifetime of enjoyment!!! As always, proceeds from the book will go to MountainKin projects which help preserve the past--the editors and writers are not making any personal profit! Their time and efforts are all donated and are a "labor of love." If you want to see more volumes of the VOICES books, please support the group by ordering today! To reserve your BOOKS, for yourself and as gifts, send payment by check made out to Linda Anders, address: 216 S. Broad St., PMB 13, Brevard, NC 28712.
