His parents were Hugh Bishop and Permelia Ann Gilbert. He was married to Mary Ann Shell. Simp was b. 1832 in Spartburg County and died after 1910 in the Travelers Rest area of Greenville County.Both he had Mary Ann are buried in unmarked graves in Enoree Baptist Church cemetery near Travelers Rest.
