John Wilson Sr's widow (second wife Jane/Jean) moved to Mason County, Kentucky with most of their children. The following deed indicates that John Wilson Jr. was living in Greenville County, South Carolina in 1797. I have managed to track down most of the children of John Sr, but know nothing about John Jr. Does anyone have a John Wilson in Greenville co., SC???? Thomas Clawson married Elizabeth Wilson, daughter of John and Jane(Jean) Wilson Sr., so John Wilson was giving power of attorney to his brother-in-law. I have a number of deeds showing that John and Mary (Wilson) Jones, another brother-in-law and sister of John Wilson Jr's sold land to many of the children of John and Jane(Jean) Wilson Sr. in Mason and Fleming Counties, Kentucky including the following Thomas Clawson. Mason Co., KY DB E p 88, 7 Oct 1797 JOHN WILSON of Greenville, SC appoints my "friend" THOMAS CLAWSON of Mason County, Kentucky my true and lawful attorney to receive from JEAN WILSON Executrix and JOHN JONES Executor to estate of JOHN WILSON, DEC'D my part which may be due me. Rev War pension filings. Benjamin was married in Randolph County, NC in 1776 according to the pension filing (where Jacob Clearwater was living according to the 1779 Tax records before moving to guilford before 1790). Pension records say Benjamin enlisted and fought in Virginia. Also in 1818 says he was 78 thus born 1740 so he would be an older brother. However is wife claims he was insane so some of his details may not be accurate. Benjamin lived most of his life in TN although not Greene. At the State Line, house on right, look up the mountain, across the road to the left of this house." The highway in question would be 276, not 25, so this may be a different cemetery. The book lists the following Bishops: Wyley A., Clarissa Tinsley, Mary Elizabeth (Mamie), Benjamin Perry, and William Holbart. The latest burial is Clarissa (wife of Wyley), buried in 1909. I didn't find any other Bishop cemeteries in county cemetery survey books. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to contact me directly. Hattie D Bishop Judy Bishop Mary Polly Brannon Bishop William Bishop. Most likely this is not all of the graves in this cemetery, just the ones that the author has submitted. The website can be a little tricky, but I found this under Cemetery search. I typed in Bishop cemetery and up pops this cemetery with these four people there. By the way it does not give an address just that it is in Spartanburg. Some of the lines back then are sketchy. 25N does run close to there. My ancestors who lived in the Greer area are listed sometimes in the Spartanburg registry. Thanks. Hope this helped. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
