Reply should have gone to Kelly Jane directly, I mistakenly replied to list. My apologies. sharie
Hi Kelly Jane, I would be interested in any that might pertain to Batson's. Sometimes it's hard to do research long-distance. Our three trips to Greenville this year didn't allow for much research. Two were mad dashes to get there for funerals, the last which was supposed to be vacation we were so exhausted we didn't do much but sit....... I confess I have probably done the least research this last two years than since I started, but sometimes living family gets put in front of passed family and our passions change - even temporarily. I look forward this coming year to just some "sitting" time and refueling. A prayer that you have time for the same. Hope all is well on your end and family is doing well. Dad keeps going along - will be 92 this summer if he makes it. His mind of course is failing more and more. For the first time this fall he didn't know Bat. The next time he did. Quite a jolt. Sometimes the mental strain is harder than the physical, I'm sure you know. blessings, sharie

Can anyone help me with a death date for the first and obituaries for both of the following people. 1) John HARBIN, d 1850's probably. He lived in Greenville county from 1810 on and was 65 and a farmer there on the 1850 census. 2) Samuel L. Harbin, died May 26, 1887. He had lived in Buncombe County, NC earlier but was a farmer in Saluda in 1880. His wife Nancy did in 1884. He is buried at Salem United Methodist, Greenville. I am seeking them primarily in the hope that they will name siblings who I am not aware of. Thank you for any help. Joan Marie

Kelly, Thanks for responding but they aren't my Hawkinses. Actually Lourena/Louraney Hawkins could be but I strongly doubt it as mine seemed to be of Travelers Rest, Greenville. And that's the part of the puzzle that is blank--who were his siblings/aunts/uncles/cousins/grandparents/ggrandparents. Thanks for trying. I just didn't receive the email on the book "Our Hawkins Cousins". I was hoping that whomever owns it could look it my ggrandfather up for me, but I haven't heard from them. Judy

In 1857 she married James Brockman Westmoreland. I am trying to determine if she had a son prior to this marriage. If anyone has access to the 1860 census for Gvl County, would like to know if there is a male child living in the Alexander Fowler household or James Brockman Westmoreland household who is between the ages of 7 and 11. The male child I am looking for would later have his name changed to John James Moore. Whether as a Fowler his name was John, or perhaps James, is unknown. It is also possible that there are other Fowlers in Greenville County in 1860 who could have raised this child to the time he was adopted by the Moore family. Does anyone know the circumstances of Edith Fowler's death in 1861? Thanks so much! I have been looking for this child for a long time. He is my great grandfather. I must have missed this. My ggrandfather was William Henry Hawkins b 15 Mar 1858 Greenville cty, SC. He married Mary Wood Poole of the (Pettypool, Pettipoole, Pool, Poole/etc. Is his name in this book or papers or whatever it is? Wm Henry Hawkins' father's name was William also, and I believe his mother's name was Caroline. I know much about his and Mary's children but have no siblings or any- thing else. Thank you in advance. Judy Curtis Jackson NC
