Also my ancestor Berry M Pressley made an application and was approved for a Cross of Honor , in 1904 he was awarded one, ( as to family stories ) and it was endorsed by J H Ballentine, Could someone point me in the right direction to obtain copies of these things thanks Elaine echamb6269@aol.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. She left there with her husband and went first to Franklin Co. TN then to northern AL, then to TN, to AR. She had a relative in Lawrence Co. AR and all I have on him was his name was Pleasant Goings, wife died, so did Pleasant, and Bennett & Sarah Goings Holder took in their children and raised them. Bennett & Sarah Goings Holder's children were: Henry Johnson Holder, Patsy Martha, Thomas (my line), Bledsoe, William H., Sarah "Sally", James, Nancy Jane Elizabeth, Joshua, Lucy (Lucinda?), and Isabella. Bennett was born in Greenville and I assume that Sarah Goings was also. Have found no data on either of them in SC. My Great Grandfather, Thomas Holder, and his wife Nancy Jane Gibson Holder had children: Mary Elizabeth, James, Sarah A., Henry Bennett (my great Grandfather, Andrew Jackson, William J., Thomas, Fannie Jane, John D.(Dolan?), Pernicia Isabella, Martin B. and Martha Susan. Minerva had married John Iras Jones following the death of Alexander Fowler in 1838. Eda is listed as 9 years old. In the 1860 Census for Clear Spring, Greenville, South Carolina: J B Westmoreland, age 25, blacksmith, born in South Carolina Eda A Westmoreland, age 26, housekeeper Henrietta Westmoreland, age 1 I checked the 1860 household for Minerva Walker Fowler Jones, but there was no male under the age of 15 in the household. I looked in 1870 and this household has a J.J. Moore that would seem to be the closest match.
