Don, Thank you very much for the info on Eliza! She has been a bit of a family mystery, but I am delighted to get this. If you find anything else on her, please let me know. Do you know of anyone with a picture of her? William Elkanah MARCHBANKS also had a first wf, Mary Ann GOODLETT, but no children from that marriage. When Barbara GAULT MARCHBANKS GREER had her first son, she named him for her father. This first son was my grandfather listed below. Godspeed... This is no help to you, but do you know of an Anna ADAMS that may have been a dau/sister of your Charles ADAMS? Anna ADAMS md. William GOODLETT but I believe that she would have had to have been either a sister of aunt to your Charles due to the dates that I figure are approx. for her. Thank you! Rhita, I've not see the Bible you are looking for, but please let me know if you find it! I would love to hear about it. I know that the family Bible (GREER) burned in an aunt's house fire in the late 50s. My grandfather had left it with her bec. he was in a nursing home. I just always wished I knew how far back it went; it might have been a gold mine for both of us! I noticed your WOOD Bible message. I am a descendant of Stephen Chilton or Chelton Wood, who lived in Laurens and Greenville Counties in the late 1700's and very early 1800's and married Sarah Wright, daughter of George and Sarah (Bowman) Wright. I would appreciate any information which you can give me about the Wood family or families of this area and time. Robert McClain, texmass@aol.com

Hello everyone, Does anyone have information on the Adams family that lived in Greenville County in the 1790 till 1830 period. Charles Adams and his wife Susan Knowles were married in 1812. Charles served in the war of 1812 along with James Lawson, William Park, Joseph Bivins, and Amos Ladd. These men from Greenville were responsible for a wagon train of supplies gathered in Greenville and taken to Louisiana during the battle of New Orleans. They stopped in Polk County Tennessee where later Charles Adams attained a Land Grant for his service in the war. Can anyone help with this Charles Adams or the Knowles family? Thanks Benny Ball
I am descended from G. W. HENDRIX and his wife S. Mariah. This family has been hard to research for a long time now. This is what I know: S. Mariah HENDRIX is buried at Ebenezer Methodist Church, Batesville, Greenville Co., SC. Her marker says she is the wife of G. W. HENDRIX, that she was born 15 May 1915 and died 12 Aug 1886. There is no marker for G. W. HENDRIX. I first find this family in the 1850 Census in the Rocky Creek Division of Greenville Co., SC. Mariah is the head of household with the following children: Sarah A. HENDRIX. Sarah is buried at Ebenezer Methodist Church with her husband, J. W. SMITH. Her marker says she was born 1 Sep 1832 and died 22 Mar 1873. Rosa J. HENDRIX. (My Ancestor). Rosa is buried at Ebenezer Methodist Church with her husband, William Pinckney RODDY. Her marker says she was born 9 May 1838 and died 25 Mar 1885. Mary HENDRIX. Census says she was born about 1942. James A. HENDRIX. James is buried at Ebenezer Methodist Church with his wife, Margaret Amelia. His marker says he was born 13 Jul 1845 and died 5 Sep 1913. Missouri HENDRIX. Missouri (called Madora in 1850 census) is buried at Ebenezer Methodist Church. Her marker says she was born 5 Oct 1848 and died 4 Nov 1930. Her marker says she was the wife of M. J. SHIRLEY. There is no marker for him. Elizabeth HENDRIX. 1850 Census says she was born about 1849. Age indicates she would have been a twin. Martha HENDRIX. 1850 Census says she was born about 1849. Age indicates she would have been a twin. Last year I discovered, through another researcher, that there was a C. Mariah MAYFIELD, daughter of William MAYFIELD, who received a bequest from her father's estate in mid 1860's) G. Washington HENDRIX, husband of Mariah, was evidently dead by that time as his debts to William MAYFIELD were forgiven in the will. I have not yet found this family in the 1860 census. Any help with the about family would be greatly appreciated. Rhita

I, too, am researching the Fowler family. My husband's great-grandmother was Susan Charlotte (Lottie) Fowler who married Marcus Morgan. Lottie's father was George Fowler. I've just begun this research and would love to talk to anyone who knows of this line Debby, Ohio
Here is what I find in the 1850 census, Pickens Dist., Eastern Division: Dwelling #102 Family #102 Daniel MCKINNEY, 74, m, w, born in NY Sarah, 77 yrs., f, w, born SC Betsy , 41 yrs., f, w, born SC Rachel, 40 yrs., f, w, born SC Sarah, 27 yrs., f, w, born SC Daniel, age 3, m, w, b. SC This sounds as if Daniel MCKINNEY, age 3, is a grandson of Daniel, age 74, and Sarah, age 77. Sarah, due to the skip in ages, may be the dau-in-law and mother to Daniel, age 3(prob. turned age 4 shortly after census). Poss. Daniel's father died shortly after he was born. But according to what you found, Rachel fits perfectly as the D-I-L & mother. Sarah, age 27, may have just been a late born child of the older couple. This still doesn't give you a father for Daniel, but it does seem to give you his paternal g'parents and the fact that the older Daniel came fr. NY. There are a few other MCKINNEY families in 1850 is you need that info. None have a Daniel but still might be connected to this family. Godspeed, and hope this is helpful! My GG-G'mother was Eliza WHAM [of the WHAM family that lived in the Fairview Presbyterian Church area]. She first married Wm. Elkanah MARCHBANKS and had one child, Barbara GAULT MARCHBANKS (named for her maternal grandmother, Barbara GAULT WHAM). Shortly afterwards, Elkanah/Caney was killed in VA/WVA during the aftermath of Gettysburg. Eliza WHAM MARCHBANKS married an ESKEW after her husband was killed. I have never found out much about her and her second family. I do know that she had at least one daughter. I would love to know more about her "other family" and would especially like to know where she is buried. Thank you for any assistance with this. I have lots of info on the MARCHBANKS, WHAM, & GAULT families if anyone is interested. Godspeed... Dolores M. Pringle
May I ask if you know any of the names of the FOWLERS buried in this cemetery? Could I get specific directions to Old Stage Road from you? I do know that they are buried on what is now private property, I believe. Thank you!
