Dear Jane, After choosing the "Obituary Archive Search Engine" option, choose "South Carolina" from the list of states on the left hand side. Then, when the list of South Carolina links come up, choose "SC, Greenville Co." The reason I didn't put a direct link is because I didn't want people to miss all of the other valuable sections of Obituary Central such as the WebWide Surname Locator and the Historical & Genealogical Societies of the United States. Hope this helps. Hi, I am very interested in the Ross, Dills and Stanford families that moved to West Tn. in the 1820's. My gggrandfather John Stewart and his wife Lettie moved to Carroll co. TN. before 1830. They are listed there in the 1830 census along with Daniel Ross, Thomas Stanford and John Dill with many others from the Greenville area. John Stewart was the son of Edward Stewart and Mary Ford who moved over into Greenville from Spartanburg about 1808. Do you have any information on these families and dates for the trip to West Tn. Please contact me personally at jb4318@mediaone.net, I would love to discuss this. I'm sorry I can't help with your guy.............James Stewart Lakewood, CA.
Can anyone provide the address and phone number of the Springwood Cemetary in Greenville? It's in the center of town between Main and Church streets. McPherson Park is near by. I visited it with a second cousin of mine when I was in Greenville last summer. But I could not find it in the phone book and we did not see the office for it. Can anyone help? Victoria
There are many WHAM's from this area. jackie
Hi, Jackie, I don't know if my WHAMS are related to the ones in Sumter, but I didn't know there were any in Sumter, and you would think I would have run across that w/all the research I do there! Oh, well, I'm a bit slow sometimes, so maybe I missed them. I do know that there is a very comprehensive web site on the WHAMS, and that there were two groups of them. One went north and one came south. Both are posted on this particular site. It is a wonderful site, and I was able to contribute my info and they posted it. Here's the address: http://www.wham.org/RootsSouth.htm This will get you to the Southern branch and you can maneuver from there. Let me hear from you! God bless, Dolores M. If you know where Ware Place is on Hwy 25 south of Greenville - at the intersection of Hwy 25 and State Roads 418 and 8; turn onto Route 8 toward Pelzer and Washington Baptist Church is a few miles down on the left. The church is actually on half circle road off of Hwy 8 but the steeple is visible from the main road. Hope this is the one you are looking for. Donna Roberts Aiken, SC
Dolores, do you know if your Wham's are related to the Sumter, SC Wham's? jackie in Sumter, SC
