    1. [SCGREENV] Neves
    2. Daniel Neves, It appears that the Neves families were in the upper Greenville CO area of South Carolina by 1820 and probably earlier. There is some record that the name was originally spelled Neaves, which is Scot. So the lineage is probably Scotch-Irish. Though it would be very interesting if we could find a Portuguese connection in the Revolutionary War period in North America. Neves is my married name, but I have done a lot of research on my husband's family lineage as have others in his family. PS I am going to continue to say Scotch-Irish, though I read an article yesterday that indicated that the new spelling is Scot-Irish. The writer used this term because he said that the folks at the Highland Games at Grandfather Mountain wanted to be called Scot-Irish. He didn't ask me, so I will use Scotch Irish in protest ;) Debby Neves
