Listen, since you work at the Duncan Baptist Church maybe you can help me. My mother's mother Maude Jeanette Turner Morrow Singleton died in June of 1935, I believe, and was buried at the cemetery there at Duncan Baptist Church. My mom would take me to visit her grave when I was a child. No one can now remember the exact location of her grave. I don't know if it was orginally marked and somehow is not now marked. I have tried several times to locate it. I have been told that many years ago the church there burned and the records were destroyed. Is that correct? Any help that you might be able to provide would be a true blessing, as I was never fortunate to ever see her. I was born in 1944. Thanks again for any help and great on Savannah Fortner. Looks like we are everywhere. I am still looking in Pickens for any further FORTNER info. I will share all that I have. Don Fortner Inman, SC

I received my 1880 census from LDS several weeks ago and have been spending a great deal of time playing with it. I've made a couple of interesting discoveries for a couple of my lines. Now I thought I would offer to do lookups for those folks on the Greenville and Pickens lists. At a later time, I will offer to do other counties, surname lists, etc., so that I won't leave anyone out. If you want a lookup, PLEASE send specific names. I will not lookup "all the info on _____ (surname)." If you send just a surname, I will not reply. Almost always, these are fruitless searches, and I'd like to spend my time actually helping someone. It will work best if you send any name/s that you know, including any pet or nicknames that the person may have gone by, also any possible location (County and Chick Springs, Cleveland, Keowee P.O., etc) you may know, and any dates of birth/ages you think are correct. I will always send you all the info the census gives, such as family members, nearby relatives, etc. Just make your email short with the info requested above. I hope that I can be of help; so many of you have been wonderful when I've needed your assitance. Merry Christmas! Dolores Miller Pringle

I searched through every single obit - and currently keep a record of every Masters obit to date. Unfortunately, Bertha was mentioned in the obit of Viola - whom I can't place in my tree. Robert E. and Robert Wilkes] and in another section Charles has Robert E. being the one killed. He quotes a grandson of Americus saying it was Wilkes that was killed not Robert as reported by Keowee Courier on September 25,1890. I think I know someone who has a reprint of the article. So if your Robert is Robert Wilkes and he was in 1900 C. then it couldn't have been him who was killed in 1890. I have put a notice in Frazier Message Boards asking for contact with descendents of Ransom Americus hoping to clear this up. We have been in contact several times before. Lucy Brown
