I would be most interested in seeing that will of David Shelton which mentions William and Joel. There are 2 Williams, some Johns/Jonathan, and a Joel in the Greenville Co. census' in the first half of the 1800's--I am sure one of them is the father of John Shelton (my g.-g.-father) that I am looking for. I have not seen this will on-line. i live just outside NY City which makes it hard to research Greenville SC relatives! Thanks for any leads you can provide. Cynthia

From the information that I have Mary Bates was gone by 1810, prob real young and due to child birth. Joel Thomas and his sister Sarah Shelton Chastain were close in birth and she stated that she and Edward Chastain were marr at the home of her parents Joel and Lydia Shelton on the banks of the Tuckaseegee R." On the 1850 GA Murray Co census Joel & Mary "Polly" Shelton's children are named minus Margaret (Peggy) my gr-gr who married Jasper Stone in Dalton GA records in 1848. IF they had a child named John he had marr or moved by then. The only John I've ever seen was in the will of David Shelton where Wm. Shelton, father of Joel is mentioned.
