I sure do want the KEMP and DILL.........thank you for your kind offer.......pj ----- Original Message ----- > Dear Friends, > > On Hwy 14 (Greer) behind a store called Hire Killers Pest Control there are some graves. I was very excited to learn of this place so tucked away within the city. I was also saddened about the condition. Stones were broken in half, stacked all around, and not to mention that the new Greer Fitness Gym has bulldozed a few of them away. The stones were swept away with the dirt-one named recalled from a stone was Wilson. Some stones are still there and date back to mid 1800’s. I noticed some Civil War vets there as well. I will go back there and transcribe this for everyone before something else happens to this place. How sad that they have suffered bulldozing and vandalism, but I suppose that we are blessed that someone has located them bef. they are completely demolished. I would love to know about the families buried there. I am a desc. of the GREER family in GREER, and know that there are many graves that are missing from our line, and I would love to find them. Could these cemeteries that have been re-discovered be brought to the attention of the city - or someone who might protect them? I would be happy to write a letter or do whatever needs to be done. I know of at least one other place where some of my GREERS were buried that was bulldozed by a farmer abt. 20 yrs. ago. He just pushed all the grave markers into a big ditch and plowed up the field to add to his farm! I guess this is what some folks call "progress." Please contact me if you need to or if you get more info. Thank you! Dolores M. Pringle DMPringle@sc.rr.com

But it is listed I believe in the earlier cemetery book, The Presence of the Past, I think it is called, and it says something about the cemetery being vandalized at some point. It would be great if it were posted on the Tombstone Inscription Project. There is another family cemetery just down the road on the left also, going out of Greer, that is very interesting, the Mostella family, I believe. It is in better shape.
