Hi! I am looking for information on Henry (T or F) ESKEW that was married to Martha SULLIVAN and lived in the Oaklawn area of Greenville in the 1880. They had several children including a daughter Dora V ESKEW that was born in 1879. Dora married G. Rufus Robinson. I am trying to locate any information on this ESKEW family. Thank you for your help! Elaine Robinson

My GG-G'mother Eliza WHAM MARCHBANKS md. 2nd an ESKEW. She only had one child by her first husband, just bef. the Civil War started, and he was killed. Dolores, I am sorry, but Eliza is not in my database. And I still haven't found any more about ARCHIBALD FOWLER, either. The old guy was certainly elusive. I am sure that you have seen the Jones Book by Doris Bramlett. It is a great book. Not a lot of documentation, but certainly information about our families to inspire more research. You and I are related to half the people in Southern Greenville County. Marion Smith Whiting

He was injured and lost one of his eyes while he worked there and got a glass eye after that. I believe Woodrow was some kind of supervisor. I'll check with my cousin, Ann, to try to find out Uncle Woodrow's siblings. I grew up on Osteen street close to the ball park. Have you been able to find any pictures of the old ballpark, like when it had bleachers and brick dugouts?

If you call Teri Hines at the church, I'm sure she'll let you look at them. I don't know if you'll be able to make copies or not. My mama, Ruth Lawson and I still attend church there. If you find any pictures of Woodside & the older elementary school, please let me know. I'm looking for those pictures also. My mom grew up on Woodside and went to that school and I know that she'd love to see them.. Thanks, Teresa
My gggrandmother was Temperance Austin who married Squire Barbare, her mother was Nancy Austin. I can't tell you her date of birth or death because I have not found that info and because the census records had her and Squire's ages too confused. By the census they aged a lot in a 10 year period. I haven't been able to get a start on the Austins. I just thought you might have found them in your search. Edwin Rabine, last residence listed as Tucker GA but spent many years in Greenville SC, date of death Feb. 19, 1999, born 6-27-1903. I believe Edwin is the son of August and Augusta (Ehlert) Rabine. Augusta Ehlert-Rabine and my Great-Grandmother Ernestina Ehlert-Ladwig were sisters. If this name rings a bell please feel free to respond to me at [email protected] Thanks for your time
Teresa, You can look up obituaries at the Greenville News Website. I have included a link to Woodrow's, but it will probably not go through the list. If not, just copy and paste; then page down to Eskew. The are listed alphabetically. I have pretty good history of the Eskews, if you are interested. I grew up at Brandon also, but probably long before you were there.
