He was born in Laurens County 7/1/1912. Last year in Greenville was 1926 when he was in school according to his Army discharge papers. I have no further information. I was told that there was a name change at some point to Curtwright. I assume he was a Taylor. Related as brother or half-brother to Louise Taylor born in Laurens County 11/5/1907 and related in some manner to Ruth Taylor born in Greenville County 3/10/1902 according to her death certificate. She married John E. McClintock and died in Charlotte NC 3/18/1943. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I have had no success in searching the census. Thank you.

    1. Re: [SCGREENV] Need full name of Minister named Rev. Jonathan ? in 1822
    2. In doing a search of the birth, marriage and death records of upstate SC from 1826-1965, the only minister with the first name of Jonathan I find is the Rev. Jonathan Deweese, of Greenville Co. He was b. 1767 in Pa., moved to Greenville, SC, ordained a minister in 1799 and it is mentioned he was pastor of Poplar Springs church. He died in 1849. There was also a Dr. W.B. Johnson, who I believe was pastor for a time of First Baptist in Greenville.

I am assuming that this was an orphanage, or a type of shelter for homeless children. I am interested in information from 1914 through 1916. My grandfather and his brother stayed with the Bruner's during that time. (I'm not sure that the spelling of the name is correct) Thank you so much! Patti Crumpton

    1. Need full name of Minister named Rev. Jonathan ? in 1822
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UeB.2ACI/3884 Message Board Post: In an 1817 Bible record is recorded the marriage of Sylvanus WALKER to Sarah B. ASHMORE on July 25, 1822. Age and deterioation makes it unclear if the minister who married this couple was Rev. Jonathan ____? Or if his surname was JONATHAN? If his surname was JONATHAN, then would like to have his Christian (given) name. Can anyone tell me how how I might verify this information? The marriage would have taken place in either Greenville County where the groom lived (and where the bride may have also resided) or perhaps in Laurens County. Some say the bride's parents were from Laurens County. Writing story of this WALKER family and would really like to include full name of this minister if it can be determined. Thanks for any and all suggestions.
